In an attempt to compete in the quickly expanding field of generative artificial intelligence, Google unveiled its most ambitious project to date on Wednesday: Gemini, an AI model intended to outperform OpenAI’s GPT models and enhance everything from Google’s consumer apps to Android smartphones.
Sundar Pichai said in X, “Introducing Gemini 1.0, our most capable and general AI model yet. Built natively to be multimodal, it’s the first step in our Gemini-era of models. Gemini is optimized in three sizes – Ultra, Pro, and Nano Gemini Ultra’s performance exceeds current state-of-the-art results on 30 of the 32 widely-used academic benchmarks. With a score of 90.0%, Gemini Ultra is the first model to outperform human experts on MMLU.”
Today, Bard’s largest update yet, Gemini Pro, will be available in 170 countries and include more sophisticated responses and reasoning. Early in the next year, Bard Advanced with Ultra—our most versatile and competent model for extremely difficult tasks—will be available.
