Elon Musk is the richest billionaire in the world, according to both Forbes 400 and the Bloomberg Billionaire List. While Forbes has listed the richest billionaires in the US, Bloomberg’s Billionaire Index also includes billionaires from the rest of the world. Both lists have the same top three, and they are Americans: Amazon’s Jeff Bezos is at Number Two, while Meta’s Mark Zuckerberg is at Number Three.
Forbes 400 includes the richest people in America in 2024 and says that their cumulative wealth is worth $5.4 trillion, with an increase of almost one trillion dollars from 2023. The current list also has 12 people whose fortune crossed $100 billion.
Forbes reports that the 400 persons on the list have a net worth of $3.3 billion or more, an increase of $400 million compared with last year.
There are 23 newcomers and three young billionaires. This year, the number of American women in the Forbes 400 has also increased, as has their net worth. Some billionaires, including Taylor Swift, Magic Johnson, and Sam Altman, were dropped off because their net worths were below the $3.3 billion cutoff.
The Bloomberg Billionaire Index of the top 500 billionaires globally as of October 3 also featured Americans Elon Musk, Jeff Bezos, and Mark Zuckerberg in the top three positions. However, Bernard Arnault, the scion of LVMH, based in Paris, was in fourth place.
The Bloomberg Billionaires Index is updated at the close of each trading day in New York. Tesla and SpaceX CEO Musk has been the richest person for months, but Bezos and Zuckerberg have recently risen to the next two positions. Arnault fell to the fourth position due to the fall in the demand for luxury goods worldwide.
