Lauren Sanchez, the fiancée of Amazon founder Jeff Bezos, recently appeared on a popular morning show to promote her debut book. The author and entrepreneur shared that the children’s book was deeply personal and written for her younger self. She also highlighted the support she received from a teacher who played a crucial role in helping her navigate challenges. Lauren Sanchez spoke to Good Morning America host Michael Strahan and detailed how her first children’s book, The Fly Who Flew to Space, was written for her at 8 years old, at a point in time when she “felt dumb.”
Lauren Sanchez, the owner of an aviation company and a former award-winning journalist, said she gained confidence mainly when she joined community college. An educator encouraged her to write despite spelling and other mistakes.
The teacher, whose name, Lauren Sanchez did not mention in the GMA interview, tested her and found that she was suffering from dyslexia. She regained her confidence and was helped to improve her writing skills.
Lauren Sanchez became a journalist and won an Emmy award. She also learned to fly a helicopter and founded an aviation company.
Lauren Sanchez runs the Bezos Earth Fund, along with fiancé Jeff Bezos. She is also committed to spreading awareness about reading disability. She will donate some of the proceeds of her book to the Dyslexia Association. This association helps diagnose children with dyslexia at a young age.
Lauren Sanchez also has some more personal connection with this cause. Her youngest son, Evan, was found to be dyslexic when he was in the second grade.
