Update 11-07-2023: The shooter, Anthony Polito, 67, had been trying to find work when he died at the scene of a shooting that left three people dead and one seriously injured.

There are several victims of the shooting at UNLV. The Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, a suspect in Wednesday’s shooting at UNLV has been found dead.

With the caption alert to students and all in the are, “University Police responding to report of shots fire in BEH, evacuate to a safe area, RUN-HIDE-FIGHT,” UNLV initially posted about the incident on X at approximately 11:53 a.m.

They reported that “multiple victims at this time” appeared to be in the vicinity of the university’s Beam Hall structure. About twenty minutes later, the institution informed students via another post about gunshots reported close to the Student Union building.

On Wednesday, authorities at Harry Reid International Airport in Las Vegas similarly ordered a ground stop, citing security concerns. The airport is not far from the alleged gunshot location. Approximately 1200 flights are delayed.

UNLV reports, the police ask that you continue to keep sheltering in place. Police are evacuating buildings one at a time. This remains an active investigation. The suspect has been contained.

Some students are still on lockdown in buildings to make sure all is safe. Adam Garcia Director of UNLV Police Services, has confirmed the suspect is deceased; no information is given on any victims or if there are fatalities at this time. A number of victims have been transported to nearby hospitals.
