Kyiv Under Russian Missile Attack – Warning Graphic

“The city has gone into a defensive phase. Shots and explosions are ringing out in some neighborhoods. Saboteurs have already entered Kyiv,” said Kyiv’s mayor, former world heavyweight boxing champion Vitali Klitchko.

Russia’s military said Friday it took control of the strategic Hostomel airport northwest of Kyiv that enables it to quickly mobilize forces to seize the capital. Russia’s claim was not immediately confirmed but Ukrainian authorities reported heavy fighting there.

Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmytro Kuleba denounced “horrific rocket strikes” on Kyiv, some of which hit civilian areas. The windows were blown out in a 10-story apartment building near Kyiv’s main airport, where a two-meter crater showed where a missile had hit before dawn.

In this handout photo taken from video released by Ukrainian Police Department Press Service, firefighters inspect the damage at a building following a rocket attack on the city of Kyiv, Ukraine, Feb. 25, 2022.

After meeting Friday with foreign ministry officials from the separatist-controlled regions of Donetsk and Luhansk, Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov told reporters that Russia was “ready for talks at any moment” with Ukraine once Ukrainian forces “stop their resistance and lay down their arms.”

Ukraine’s Office of the President said earlier it is ready to open negotiations with Russia to agree on “neutral status,” but it want security guarantees in return. “We should stop this war,” an adviser to the president said. In response to Ukraine’s offer, the Kremlin said Friday that Russia is ready to send a delegation to Belarus for talks with Ukrainian officials.

At the United Nations, Security Council members plan to vote Friday on a resolution that would condemn Russia for invading Ukraine and reaffirm the country’s sovereignty, territorial integrity and independence. It will also call on Russia to immediately, completely and unconditionally withdraw troops from Ukraine.

Is Nitro Pepsi Nitrogen infused soda available in the U.S.

0

Soda without bubbles is almost impossible to imagine, like it would be imagining baseball without a cap. However, PepsiCo, one of the leading soda makers around the world has reimagined the bubbles as tiny smooth ones that form a foam above making the soda softer and tastier on the palate. And how has the beverage giant achieved this wonder? By investing in technology and developing a nitrogen-infused cola.

Nitrogen-infused coffee is more than a decade old and is still going strong. Pepsi decided to catch up with the trend and make a nitrogen-infused soda that would have a frothy, foamy, smooth texture similar to the head on a cup of coffee or a mug of beer.

In its press release, Pepsi said that the improved and unique texture of the cola will be achieved by the use of widget technology. Since the technology is innovative, it goes without saying that although Nitro Pepsi can be consumed straight from the can, taking a few different steps will enhance the unique product experience.

Some of the suggestions made by the beverage giant include the following:

Nitro Pepsi soda is best served cold, preferably without ice.
It will give an excellent texture if it is hard poured or inverted into a tall glass.
Direct sipping instead of using a straw will enhance the formation of a foamy mustache just like nitro coffee.

Pepsi has announced that its latest offering will be available throughout the nation on March 28. It has also announced that its latest offering will be available “on tap” at the Sky Lounge at The High Roller Observation Wheel from March 25 onwards. This is the first time a non-alcoholic foamy soda will be launched by Pepsi at THE LINQ Promenade on the popular Vegas Strip.

Pepsi has been working on its Nitro Pepsi Formula from 2019. Now, it is finally getting ready to tinker with centuries old soda and offer it as a nitro-infused one in two delicious flavors–Draft Cola and Vanilla Draft Cola in the next few weeks. The flavors will be available in uniquely designed single cans or as a 4-pack.

Moldova ‘On Alert’ President closes Airspace and declares State of Emergency

0

On Thursday, as Russian continued to pound Ukraine, neighbor Moldova declared that its parliament had approved of a “state of emergency” for 60 days, in an emergency meeting held on February 24. Moldovan President Maia Sandu said that the country was “on alert.” The president also said that they were getting ready to take in refugees fleeing from the invasion of Ukraine as multiple strikes by Russian forces are taking place. The Emergency Situations Commission will handle the crisis as well as the humanitarian challenges ahead.

On Thursday, Deputy Prime Minister of the country Andrei Spinu informed on Facebook that Supreme Security Council, CSS had “recommended the closure of Moldovan airspace.” He said that the Civil Aviation Authority would undertake the operation starting 12 a.m. and that flights would be directed to other airports.

Meanwhile the Defense Ministry said that part of the Chisinau press had circulated false information that Ukraine had been attacked by the Russians from Transnistria, which is a breakaway Russian-supported region. Defense officials chastised the media for spreading false information without confirmation and said that they should not circulate such sensitive information without verification.

Moldova’s head of state is pro-EU and has said that they would accommodate refugees from Ukraine. He said that they would support the people who needed help and tens of thousands of them would get refuge in Moldova. The president also said that law enforcement was on alert and police patrols will boost activities so that they can prevent probable challenges.

Sandu also reiterated that their priority was the security of the people, although the government had put all state institutions on alert and had also set up a crisis management center.

The Interior Minister said that almost 2,000 Ukrainians had entered the country in the first few hours of Thursday morning and more than 15,000 Ukrainian refugees have reached Moldova in the past 24 hours.

The Prime Minister Natalia Gavrilita said that Moldova now has a special system for leaving or entering the country. The airspace will have special measures and procedures to manage the flow of refugees have been put in place. Moldova has a 1,222 kilometer shared border with Ukraine.

SEC to investigate Tesla CEO Elon Musk and Kimbal Musk for alleged insider trading

0

Elon Musk, the chief executive officer (CEO) of Tesla Motors is not new to controversy. He has faced investigations from federal agencies and has also been fined for his misleading tweets by the Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) in 2018. Now, the SEC has opened a new investigation into alleged insider trading by him and his brother Kimbal Musk. The Wall Street Journal was the first to report the news, on Thursday.

Last year Kimbal Musk sold shares of Tesla one day before his brother Elon Musk conducted a Twitter poll where he had asked millions of his followers whether he should sell 10 percent of his shares in Tesla. He said that he would follow the result of the poll.

An overwhelming large number of followers said that he should sell his shares and this lead to a crash in the stock price of the electric car maker. As the poll resulted in a crash, the value of the company fell. However, his brother Kimbal had sold 88,500 shares just a day before the Twitter poll, when the stock was trading high.

Insider trading laws say that employees and board members cannot trade their company stocks using information that has not been put in the public domain. Kimbal Musk is a member of the Tesla board of directors. He sold a huge chunk of shares just before the poll. Hence, there could be conflict of interest.

The government has put in rules called 10b5-1 program. Using this program employees and directors can trade company stocks at times that have been predetermined for these stock sales. Kimbal Musk has used 10b5-1 in the past for selling stocks through 40 disclosures from the past decade or so.

When Kimbal Musk sold his 88,500 shares, on November 5, just a day before the Twitter poll that lead to a crash in stock price, there had been no indication that he used the 10b5-1 option. So, the SEC could be looking to investigate whether Musk spoke to his brother about the poll. Regulators might also probe to find put whether Kimball had heard of the poll from other sources and decided to trade in his Tesla stocks.

When asked for comment the SEC spokesperson declined to comment. Tesla Motors Inc. does not have a media relations department since 2019.

President Biden Accuses Putin of ‘Intentional War’

0
President Joe Biden authorized a new round of sanctions and limitations in response to Putin’s war of choice against Ukraine.
The White House has purposefully designed these sanctions to maximize the long-term impact on Russia — and to minimize the impact on the United States.
President Biden has taken   active steps to bring down the costs – and American oil and gas companies should not exploit this moment to hike prices just to raise profits.
Biden spoke to Americans from the White House hours after holding a virtual meeting with the leaders of Britain, Canada, France, Italy and Japan. European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, European Council President Charles Michel, and NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg also joined the meeting.

President Biden said Zelenskyy had reached out to him and asked Biden to call on world leaders to “speak out clearly against President Putin’s flagrant aggression,” the statement said.

“Tomorrow, I will be meeting with the Leaders of the G7, and the United States and our Allies and partners will be imposing severe sanctions on Russia,” he said. “We will continue to provide support and assistance to Ukraine and the Ukrainian people.”

The prayers of the entire world are with the people of Ukraine tonight as they suffer an unprovoked and unjustified attack by Russian military forces. President Putin has chosen a premeditated war that will bring a catastrophic loss of life and human suffering. Russia alone is responsible for the death and destruction this attack will bring, and the United States and its Allies and partners will respond in a united and decisive way. The world will hold Russia accountable.

I will be monitoring the situation from the White House this evening and will continue to get regular updates from my national security team. Tomorrow, I will meet with my G7 counterparts in the morning and then speak to the American people to announce the further consequences the United States and our Allies and partners will impose on Russia for this needless act of aggression against Ukraine and global peace and security. We will also coordinate with our NATO Allies to ensure a strong, united response that deters any aggression against the Alliance. Tonight, Jill and I are praying for the brave and proud people of Ukraine.

What are the amenities at Google as workers are back to office

0

Google is getting ready to welcome its workers back to the office. The tech giant is known to offer a whole list of perks and many employees complained that they missed these amenities when they were at work from home mode due to the raging pandemic. However, as many employees return to the office three days a week, after a gap of two years, they will get back many of these perquisites.

Google is looking at a hybrid model for employees to return to the office for part of the week. Many of their workers are waiting to get back the facilities they missed but some still prefer the option of working remotely.

Google Real Estate and Workplace Services VP David Radcliffe emailed employees saying that some rules on vaccines, testing, wearing masks and social distancing would be relooked at including the necessity of vaccines for U.S. workers, which was mandatory, earlier.

Earlier in January, workers who were vaccinated were also expected to take tests due to the surge of Covid cases due to the omicron variant. Most vaccinated employees need not practice social distancing or wear masks, in certain areas. The company noted that although mask wearing was still prevalent in some cities, the practice was likely to be scrapped in the near future.

Although Google still believes that its vaccination policy keeps its employees safe, unvaccinated employees will be allowed to return to office with certain conditions that would include testing and wearing of masks, according to Radcliffe’s mail.

Google has also made note of the fact that its employees missed all the fancy perks available at its headquarters as well as several offices in the San Francisco Bay Area; so, it will once again provide the following amenities when workers return to office. They include

fitness centers without appointment
massages
full shuttle services
additional places for free breakfast and lunch
opening of informal spaces such as lounges, game rooms, music rooms and more.

Although Google has not mandated a return to office date, Radcliffe said that his team was planning “celebrations” as it welcomed back employees to office.

Former President Bush condemns Ukraine invasion by Russia, asks America to unite

0

On Thursday, former President George W. Bush released a statement from his home in Dallas, Texas. He condemned the invasion of Ukraine by Russian forces and called it a historic disaster. He asked Americans to remain united in the face of the aggressive stance by President Vladimir Putin of Russia.

The former president said that Russia’s attack on Ukraine constituted the “gravest security crisis on the European continent since World War II.” He said that he joined the international community in “condemning Vladimir Putin’s unprovoked and unjustified invasion of Ukraine.”

President Bush also asked all Americans to stand united behind the people of Ukraine. He said that both the American government as well as people in the nation “must stand united” with the people and the government of Ukraine as they sought their “freedom” as well as the “right to choose their future.”

He also took direct aim at the Russian President as he said that the “authoritarian bullying and danger that Putin poses” could not be tolerated. He described Ukraine as the nation’s friend as well as a democratic ally. He noted that the country and its people deserved “full support” during their most difficult time.

Other Republicans who have commented that America should offer full support to Ukraine include congressman Michael McCaul from Texas, who is the Republican Leader of the Foreign Affairs Committee and Senator Chuck Grassley, a senior member of the GOP from Iowa.

Although President Bush and other senior Republican colleagues are standing beside the government of President Biden by condemning the invasion of Ukraine and unitedly offering support, one prominent Republican has come out in support of President Putin.

Former President Donald Trump, who remains the leader of the GOP, recently praised the Russian leader. He called Putin a “genius.” Trump also described the Russian troops who invaded their neighboring country, Ukraine as “peacekeepers.”

Two Manhattan prosecutors handling Trump Organization fraud and tax evasion probe resign

0

Two top prosecutors who were working with the Manhattan District Attorney’s Office on the ongoing investigation on fraud and tax evasion charges against the Trump Organization have tendered their resignations. On Wednesday, a spokesperson for the DA’s office, Danielle Filson confirmed the news to several news outlets. The New York Times was the first to report the news.

Filson said that they were grateful for the services of Mark Pomerantz and Carey Dunne. The spokesperson also said that they couldn’t comment further as the investigations against the Trump Organization were ongoing.

It must be noted that both these experienced prosecutors were brought in by former District Attorney of Manhattan, Cyrus Vance, who did not seek reelection before the probe could be completed. His successor Alvin Bragg promised to continue with the investigation but things have slowed down considerably after Vance’s departure.

The Times reported that sources who were familiar with the matter said that the Manhattan District Attorney Alvin Bragg had reservations about moving the case forward. One source said that he had been facing bad press due to recent prosecutorial policies that he had recently advanced. So, he was disinterested in the probe against the Trump Organization.

Both Pomerantz and Dunne had put in a lot of work to get the case move forward. Pomerantz, a private citizen had offered his services free of charge. The source said that their leaving would harm the investigation but it would not mean that the case had ended.

However, another source disagreed with this assessment and said that “Alvin” had taken a great interest in the case and the investigations were ongoing and that the team had strong lawyers.

The Times also said that the “precise reasons”behind the pullback by the DA were unknown. Alvin Bragg had spoken of personally focusing on the fraud and tax evasion case against the Trump Organization by calling it a case that merited personal attention from the DA. However, the Times noted that he had made “few public statements about the status of the enquiry since taking office.”

On Tuesday, the Trump Organization and former financial officer Allen Weisselberg filed in court saying that the charges were politically motivated and that they should be dismissed. President Trump has not been personally accused of wrongdoing, although the Trump Organization CFO was indicted for tax fraud, last July.
