Top-seeded Jannik Sinner and seven-time champion Novak Djokovic could run into each other in the Wimbledon semifinals at the All England Club as both stars are on the same side of the draw released Friday.

Sinner enters Wimbledon singles play, which begins Monday in London, as the defending champion after defeating Carlos Alcaraz in last year’s final. Alcaraz is not part of this year’s field due to a wrist injury.

French Open champion Alexander Zverev of Germany is the No. 2 seed, followed by No. 3 Felix Auger-Aliassime of Canada, No. 4 Ben Shelton and No. 5 Alex de Minaur of Australia. Taylor Fritz is No. 6 while Djokovic of Serbia is No. 7.

Sinner of Italy opens Wimbledon against Miomir Kecmanovic of Serbia as he seeks his fifth career Grand Slam title. A possible quarterfinal opponent is No. 8 seed Daniil Medvedev of Russia.

Djokovic, who has won a record 24 major titles, will begin against China’s Wu Yibing. He could possibly run into Auger-Aliassime in the quarterfinals.

Djokovic, 39, won Wimbledon titles in 2011, 2014, 2015, 2018, 2019, 2021 and 2022.

Zverev will began pursuit of his first Wimbledon title against Alexander Blockx of Belgium. He could possibly face Fritz in the quarterfinals. Fritz has won 10 of their 15 meetings.

Fritz opens with Brit Jack Draper, who was sidelined for two months with a knee injury but returned this week and reached the semifinals at Eastbourne.

Auger-Aliasssime opens against Aleksandr Shevchenko of Kazakhstan, Shelton faces Finland qualifier Otto Virtanen and de Minaur starts with Roman Andres Burruchaga of Argentina.

Among other Americans among the top 20 seeds, No. 16 Learner Tien faces Czech Dalibor Svrcina, and No. 17 Frances Tiafoe begins with Terence Atmane of France.

On the women’s side, the top seeds are No. 1 Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus, No. 2 Elena Rybakina of Kazakhstan, No. 3 Iga Swiatek of Poland and No. 4 Jessica Pegula, the top-seeded American. Swiatek is the defending champion.

Serena Williams, 44, begins her singles comeback with a first-round match against 20-year-old Australian Maya Joint, who stands No. 53 in the current WTA rankings. In Williams’ most recent Wimbledon appearance in 2022, she lost in three sets in the first round to Harmony Tan of France.
