No. 4 seed Magda Linette crushed Polish compatriot and No. 6 seed Magdalena Frech 6-2, 6-1 on Friday to win the Livesport Prague Open in the Czech Republic.

Linette saved all four break points she faced in the 80-minute victory to earn her third career title, her first on clay and first since 2020. Linette won 84 percent (27 of 32) of her first-service points and broke Frech’s serve four times in seven chances.

“I knew how tough it was going to be,” Linette said. “I needed to play my best to beat her — I really have to play my best — and I’m glad I took all my chances today.”

UniCredit Iasi Open

Top-seeded Russian teen Mirra Andreeva outlasted countrywoman and No. 5 seed Elina Avanesyan to capture her maiden WTA Tour title in Iasi, Romania.

Andreeva, 17, was leading 5-7, 7-5, 4-0 when Avanesyan retired after 2 hours and 21 minutes. Avanesyan had a 5-4 lead in the second set before dropping the last seven games.

Andreeva converted seven of 13 break chances and saved five of 10 break points.
