Influencer Andrew Tate is suing at least one of the women who have accused him of rape and human trafficking, reports say. In Romania, police are currently looking into charges of trafficking and rape, which both Andrew and Tristan Tate dispute, and are holding them in preventative detention during their investigation. The Tates are pursuing legitimate defamation claims, according to a lawyer representing them.

According to the woman’s US attorneys, Andrew Tate and his brother Tristan delivered a ‘cease-and-desist’ letter in December. The letter reportedly stated that if the woman did not withdraw her claims, they would sue her and her parents for $300 million. The letter to the woman stated that in April 2022, she had “falsely stated to a third party” that their client had human trafficked, abused, and detained her. It alleged that these were “false and defamatory statements” about the Tate brothers.
Benjamin Bull, who represents some witnesses and works for the National Centre on Sexual Exploitation, said that his client was prime in the Romanian investigation, and the cease-and-desist letter was intended “to shut down the witness” and stop her from giving any testimony. He said that they “want these young ladies to climb into a hole and hide” and never reveal what they had seen and what had happened to them. Bull also said that his clients were pretty upset by the impact of legal action.

Six women are thought to have testified in relation to the rape and trafficking claims, at least in part. Charges have not yet been filed.

One of Tate’s legal advisors, Tina Glandian, has stated that pursuing valid legal claims for defamation was not abnormal. They could pursue their legal rights despite being incarcerated.

While prosecutors have taken care not to reveal the names of the six women, some women’s names are on social media. While in detention, Andrew Tate and his brother are not allowed access to social media, but they have amassed a sizable and devoted online community of followers.
There are accounts that seem to be fully-staffed businesses that release videos and documentation meant to refute the claims made by witnesses and other women against the Tates, reports say. One of the more active accounts earlier this week disclosed the complete identity, social media handles, and WhatsApp chats of one of the accused victims.
