Clorox (NYSE:CLX) shares experienced a more than 8% drop intra-day today following the company’s announcement of a cybersecurity breach.
Due to this security incident, Clorox is projecting a substantial decrease in Q1 net sales, ranging from 28% to 23% compared to the same quarter in the previous year. Organic sales are also expected to decline, with an estimated drop of 26% to 21% for the quarter. The cybersecurity attack has led to significant disruptions, including delays in processing orders and shortages of products.
The company now anticipates an adjusted EPS within the range of a loss of $0.40 to break even. This stands in contrast to its previous expectations of an increase in gross margin, as Clorox now foresees a lower gross margin compared to the same quarter in the prior year.
Regarding the situation, Clorox stated that it expects ongoing operational challenges in the second quarter but believes these disruptions will gradually diminish as the company progresses toward a return to normal operations.
The WNBA awarded an expansion franchise to the Golden State Warriors on Thursday, with the team set to begin play in 2025.
This is the 13th team for the WNBA but the first to join since 2008. The franchise fee was not disclosed.
Warriors majority owners Joe Lacob and Peter Guber will head the team, which will make Chase Center in San Francisco its home arena. Team headquarters will be at Golden State’s facility in Oakland, which the Warriors previously used for practice and their front office.

Their interest in joining the WNBA family is yet another sign of the league’s growth potential.”
The Athletic reported Thursday that Portland, Ore., is receiving “strong consideration” for a future team, naming local billionaire Kirk Brown as the person leading the charge for a franchise.
The Warriors now are the sixth NBA franchise to have a WNBA team, joining the Indiana Pacers (Indiana Fever), Minnesota Timberwolves (Minnesota Lynx), Brooklyn Nets (New York Liberty), Phoenix Suns (Phoenix Mercury) and Washington Wizards (Washington Mystics).
WNBA player Dearica Hamby has filed a complaint against the WNBA and Las Vegas Aces, contending gender discrimination, multiple outlets reported.
She filed the complaint last week with the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, according to The Washington Post, which reviewed the documents.
Hamby charges in the complaint that she was subject to an “abusive and hostile” work environment by the Aces and coach Becky Hammon after she told them she was pregnant. She also contends the WNBA did not adequately investigate her complaints.
The league wound up suspending Hammon in May for two games without pay and rescinding the Aces’ first-round draft pick in 2025. At the time, Hammon denied Hamby was discriminated against for being pregnant.
Hamby, 29, was traded to the Los Angeles Sparks. She was the No. 6 overall pick in the 2015 WNBA Draft, the league’s Sixth Woman of the Year (2019, 2020), an All-Star in 2021 and 2022, and part of the Aces’ championship team in 2022.
“The league conducted a thorough investigation of the allegations and levied appropriate discipline based on its findings,” a WNBA spokesperson told The Post on Wednesday.
In the complaint, Hamby also alleges that Hammon criticized her for having a baby. Per The Post, Hamby charges that Hammon asked her if the pregnancy was planned, said the player was violating her contract by getting pregnant and accused her of not “taking precautions to not get pregnant.”
Hamby is not the only player to criticize her team. Skylar Diggins-Smith also said that the Phoenix Mercury would not let her use practice facilities while on maternity leave.
Mississippi State forward Tolu Smith sustained a foot injury during a recent practice and will miss a good portion of the season.
Smith is expected to return sometime during Southeastern Conference play, which for the Bulldogs begins Jan. 6, the program announced.
Smith was Mississippi State’s leading scorer last season at 15.7 points per game, his third consecutive season scoring in double figures.
“We’re going to support and care for Tolu’s mental and physical well-being during every step of the recovery process,” coach Chris Jans said in a statement. “We will continue to move forward with our preparations for the upcoming season as Tolu and his family would expect us to. He will continue to serve as a team leader from the sidelines until we welcome him back on the floor. We will pray for a healthy and speedy recovery for Tolu and his family.”
Smith also averaged 8.5 rebounds last season and earned a first-team All-SEC selection. He had garnered All-SEC preseason honors for 2023-24 from multiple publications.
Smith declared for the NBA draft following last season before later withdrawing his name and returning to school.
The 6-foot-10 forward spent one season at Western Kentucky before transferring to Mississippi State, where in three seasons he has averaged 14.2 points and 8.0 rebounds per game over 85 games (84 starts).
Hailie Deegan landed a multiyear deal with AM Racing to race in the Xfinity Series in 2024, the racing team announced Thursday.
Deegan, 22, is the lone woman competing full-time nationally at the NASCAR level and has spent the past three seasons in the Craftsman Truck Series.
A native of Temecula, Calif., Deegan filled-in for an Xfinity race in 2022 and finished 13th in Las Vegas.
“We are excited to see Hailie continuing to advance her career by running full-time with AM Racing in the NASCAR Xfinity Series in 2024,” Mark Rushbrook, global director Ford Performance Motorsports, said in a news release. “Hailie works so hard on and off the track, and AM Racing will surround her with a great team to continue her development. From what we saw from Hailie in her Xfinity Series debut in Las Vegas last year, we look forward to some great results in 2024.”
Deegan doesn’t have a Truck series victory and placed in the Top 10 just five times. But she feels the time is right to move up a level.
“I think the conversations with everybody in the industry selling me (on) I need to get to Xfinity — people that have experienced it, people that have been a part of it, and drivers who are part of this series — so I think that’s something that has gone a long way in reassuring me that like, ‘OK, I think this is really the right step for me and direction of my career,'” Deegan said in the release. “You see a lot of people skip trucks and have success in Xfinity and the Cup Series, so I don’t think it’s something that you have to do, but obviously I’ve done trucks and it’s had its ups and downs. We’ve had some really good moments; we’ve had some really not-so-good moments.”
Deegan had a big moment in 2018 when she won the NAPA Auto Parts Idaho 208 in Meridian, Idaho. It made her the first woman to win a race on the K&N Pro Series level.
Deegan is immensely popular away from the track with more than three million followers on TikTok and 1.4 million on Instagram.
Starbucks (SBUX) said that it is closing seven locations in San Francisco this month. It said that it was adjusting its portfolio of stores. The Seattle based coffee chain said that its employees were intimated of the closure on Tuesday and have been offered positions at other locations. It is also opening new stores including a pickup-only location in Market Street.
The following Starbucks locations will close on October 22 Mission and Main Streets Geary and Taylor Streets 425 Battery Street 398 Market Street 4th and Market Streets 555 California Street Bush Street and Van Ness Avenue.
Starbucks Regional Vice President for Northern California Jessica Borton sent a letter to district managers in San Francisco that said that the recent moves were “part of ensuring a healthy store portfolio” and more.
Starbucks also said that it had opened or reopened three new stores at locations in downtown San Francisco. The company said that renovations to a value of $2.5 million have been carried out at four locations in San Francisco.
Many companies have recently shuttered some of their stores in San Francisco. They have given multiple reasons for closure including the shrink in number of workers downtown, changing shopping habits among consumers and impact of retail theft as well as street crime.
Some of the major companies that have closed in the recent past include Nordstrom Old Navy Whole Foods Safeway and others.
San Francisco is responding to the closedowns by offering programs for boosting small scale businesses and more. IKEA s has been welcomed and they are helping to revitalize business in certain locations.
Starbucks has 59 stores in San Francisco. The closures will decrease the number of stores of the java giant to 52.

A recent study by Light House Dental Centre found that Colorado is the healthiest state in the US. They scored a solid 80 out of 80. On the other hand, Kentucky and West Virginia are the least healthy states, with scores of 41.4 and 40, respectively.
Light House Dental Centre took a bunch of factors into account, like air quality, obesity rates, physical activity, prevalent health conditions (like cholesterol, cancer, and coronary heart disease), sleeping patterns, smoking and drinking habits, food consumption, and even the number of adults with all their teeth intact. It covered all 50 states in the US and used 13 different criteria to evaluate them. Each criterion was given a score out of 100, and those scores were then combined and weighted to calculate the final score out of 40 to 80 to keep the study more realistic.
The data for this study was collected from the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), so you know it’s legit.

Uber has started a new service through its Uber and Uber Eats apps. The Wednesday announcement said that customers would be able to return package shipping through its apps. The feature called “return a package” will be available at a flat fee. Uber drivers will pick the packages and drop them at UPS, USPS, or FedEx.
Uber said that customers can send up to five packages at a time for a fee of $5 which has been discounted to $3 for Uber One members. This program also has standard tipping options for package delivery. It will be featured as an addition to the Uber Connect Program. A new feature has been launched to build on this existing feature, according to Uber.
The Uber Connect Program was launched in 2020. The ride hailing and delivery company offers a same day delivery option for customers. They can send packages to and from destinations that are in the locality.
Packages sent through Uber Connect must be prepaid. They also must be sealed and have to be in ready to ship condition. They must have a weight below 30 pounds and a value below $100.
The San Francisco based ride hailing company will initially roll out these services in almost 5,000 cities in the U.S.
