Judge Allows Lawmakers To Prosecute Trump

0

U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta

The order by U.S. District Judge Amit Mehta in Washington authorizes three cases filed by Democratic members on Capitol Hill and two U.S. Capitol Police officers against former President Trump and other militia groups, such as the Proud Boys, Oath Keepers, and Warboys, to continue forward. Trump was allegedly participating in a civil conspiracy to sabotage the election, according to the lawsuits, The Wall Street Journal said.

A federal judge ruled on Friday that a landmark series of lawsuits against former President Donald Trump can move forward over his actions leading up to the January 6 attack on the United States Capitol, ruling that his status as president at the time does not protect him from being held accountable in court for his role in the events that led to the attack on the US Capitol, reported CNN.

According to her 112-page opinion, Trump’s January 6 Rally Speech could also be viewed as an appeal for collective action and denial of immunity from civil damages “is no small step.”

Judge Mehta, who was appointed by President Barack Obama, also dismissed several of the claims against Trump’s associates and family members, saying that the plaintiffs could not proceed with their claims against Trump’s lawyer Rudy Giuliani and his son Donald Trump Jr.

The former President’s actions were channelized towards efforts to remain in office for an additional term. They were “unofficial acts”, hence did not justify “broad immunity.”

Judge Mehta specifically found that Mr. Trump’s comments to “fight like hell” and other exhortations uttered immediately before telling them to “go down Pennsylvania Avenue” were potentially inciting remarks.

Prosecutors and civil litigants can seldom establish that speech rises to the level of incitement in the United States since political speech is afforded some of the broadest protections under the law, he said.

His decision also allows Trump to be sued for carelessness, aiding and abetting assault, and a variety of other claims.

Trump’s lawyers said that Trump’s address before the disturbance on Jan. 6 was protected by the First Amendment and delivered as part of his official duties, for which presidents are normally immune from legal consequences.
Both arguments were rejected by Judge Mehta.

Trump was successful in getting a number of the claims rejected on a limited basis, and all of the claims against Giuliani and the younger Trump were dismissed outright.
The central issue in all three charges, is whether Trump and several groups who backed him broke an obscure post-Civil War law known as the Ku Klux Klan Act of 1871.

If the verdict is not overturned on appeal, Trump may be held accountable for financial damages related to the attack if he is found liable at trial, the outlet said.

Will Kanye West face criminal charges for alleged attack on fan in LA.

0

Last month, Kanye West allegedly attacked a fan in Los Angeles, California. TMZ reported that that they were told by sources in law enforcement that the investigation against the Donda rapper was almost complete. Although Ye was not interviewed as he said that he was busy, the officials have obtained information from video and from witnesses. The cops also think that there is enough evidence to charge him but that decision will be taken by the Los Angeles City Attorney’s Office.

Kanye allegedly punched a person who was seeking his autograph close to the Soho Warehouse in DLTA. The video shows a man laid on the street. Kanye is seen shouting at people who seem to be working for him. Those earlier reports of the altercation also said that the man’s nose had been broken, reportedly by the rapper.

After the investigation is completed and the report is submitted to the Attorney’s Office, Los Angeles City law officials can decided one among the three outcomes:

File charges against him
Reject the case
Call all the concerned parties and find a solution such as attending anger management classes etc.

Although it may be days or even weeks before we know whether criminal charges will be applied, the rapper is also facing a lot of other anger management issues as he lashes out at many people on social media, in these past few weeks.

Kanye has been trying to reconcile with ex wife Kim Kardashian who had filed for a divorce last February. The reality star has since moved on with comedian Pete Davidson of Saturday Night Live (SNL) fame and is reportedly happy, according to sources close to her, but he hasn’t moved on, although he dated Julia Fox, for a while.

Kanye also posted a black and white photo of himself. He captioned the Instagram post which read: “There are two kinds of people People on my team or losers.” His list of losers is weird as it reportedly contains people who have passed away decades ago as well as cartoon characters.

Who are the latest celebrities who have unfollowed Kanye after his outbursts against Richardson

The past few weeks or so have been filled with memes or posts by Kanye against Pete Richardson, the current boyfriend of his ex Kim Kardashian. It’s been constant ravings against the Saturday Night Live (SNL) host that one could almost say Oops! Ye did it again. However, there are some celebrities and followers who are tired of these constant outbursts, sometimes followed by an apology, then again an attack so they have unfollowed him and this list now includes the Kardashian sisters.

Kim Kardashian had already unfollowed her soon to be ex-husband Kanye. After his attacks became more personal on her boyfriend, her sisters Kourtney, Kylie, Khloe and Kendall Jenner also unfollowed him. However, Kris Jenner, their mother is still following him.

The 44-year old rapper, who is now called Ye, has not only been attacking Pete Robinson but has also attacked his friends with childish memes. Although the posts were taking down from his Instagram account, they did leave a bad taste as Kanye shared a private message from Pete. He also called him a d******d and mocked him in many other aspects.

Pete had reached out to Kanye through a private message saying that he would never come between Ye and Kim’s children though he would like to meet them. This lead to the rapper sharing the private conversation that the comedian sent him with an all in caps reply “NO YOU WILL NEVER MEET MY CHILDREN.”

This latest aggressive stance by the “Monster” rapper of sharing a private, sensitive message was seen as extremely bad taste by many.

Kanye then reportedly apologized and even admitted that his behavior could be termed as harassment and that he would “take accountability,” in a post that was also deleted.

However, on Thursday, he posted another meme. This time Davidson was wearing a red hat which read “Make Kanye 2006 again” similar to the MAGA hat the rapper had worn to support former President Trump.

In the original Weekend Update comedy skit, Pete joked that Kanye might be “off his meds” for which he was again blasted by the rapper.

It seems as if the Instagram rants and raves by Kanye West against Pete Richardson might continue, although sources close to Kim said that they have never seen her as happy as she is now, after Pete Davidson entered her life.

Record Breaking Meta’s VR Platform, Hits 300,000K Users in Just Three Months

It was recently included in Meta’s Super Bowl ad, and on the company’s most recent earnings call, Zuckerberg described it as “essential to our metaverse goal,” The Verge reported.

According to an employee who overheard the statement, since Horizon Worlds was given out to all Quest users in the US and Canada in early December, its monthly user base has expanded by a factor of ten to 300,000 people.

Facebook has rebranded as Meta and is investing billions of dollars a year in hardware and software that goes beyond typical social media. But, so far, the corporation has kept the public in the dark about how well its early bets are going.

Horizon Worlds, a social VR platform for the Quest headset, is Meta’s most visible bet right now.

The Verge said that Meta spokesperson Joe Osborne verified that it encompassed users of Horizon Worlds and Horizon Venues, a distinct program for attending live events in virtual reality.

Horizon Worlds and Horizon Venues, a distinct program for attending live events in VR that uses the same avatars and fundamental concepts, were included in the statistics, according to Meta spokesperson Joe Osborne.

Horizon Workrooms, a VR conferencing experience that relies on an invite system, is not included in the total. Horizon Worlds was in a private beta for creators to test its world-building tools before its December launch.

Horizon Worlds, like Roblox and Microsoft’s Minecraft, allows users to create bespoke habitats in which to hang out and play games as legless avatars.

Horizon Worlds has surpassed 10,000 unique worlds constructed to date, according to Meta, and its private Facebook community for creators now has over 20,000 members.

Though Horizon Worlds has only been widely available for a few months, it is rather early to say whether the platform’s quick growth will continue or whether it will be able to maintain members over time.

The Quest headset’s sales spiked throughout the holiday season, piqued people’s curiosity in experiencing Horizon.

Horizon’s success is difficult to measure in relation to the underlying hardware platform because Meta has not revealed how many Quest headsets it has sold to date. However, numerous third-party estimates put the Quest’s sales at around 10 million.

Meta will release a version of Horizon for mobile phones later this year, according to Zuckerberg, in order to deliver “early metaverse experiences” to more surfaces outside the VR space.

Despite the fact that Horizon Worlds has yet to generate revenue for Meta, the pressure is on for it to succeed, especially considering how the company’s stock has plummeted as investors question the company’s costly metaverse drive.

Meta must make Horizon reliable enough for millions to utilize, in addition to resolving issues with content moderation and underage users in VR.
Horizon, on the other hand, has a chance to be large if its early user growth is any indication.

Brad Pitt Sues Ex-Wife Angelina Jolie for Secret Sale to Russian Tycoon

0

Brad Pitt claims Angelina Jolie betrayed him by covertly selling her share of a winery they co-owned to a Russian tycoon, and he’s now suing her to reverse the transaction.

Actor and film producer and Brad Pitt is suing his ex-wife, Angelina Jolie, for selling her share of their co-owned vineyard to a spirits manufacturer controlled by Russian businessman Yuri Shefler. Brad has filed a lawsuit against Angelina Jolie in the hope of having the sale reversed.

TMZ was the first to report the news.

TMZ received Brad’s legal documents as part of their never-ending divorce battle. In 2008, the two bought Chateau Miraval in Correns, France. Brad claims to have put a lot of money and time into the winery over the years, despite the fact that Angelina Jolie paid 40% of the $28.4 million acquisition price.

The couple purchased Chateau Miraval in Correns, France in 2008 while still married, according to legal documents obtained by the source. The actor claims to have made a major financial investment in the winery.

Angelina Jolie, on the other hand, put down 40% of the $28.4 million purchase price, according to the legal filings. Brad believes he is responsible for the winery’s success, according to his declaration, noting that Angelina was not as involved as of 2013.

He also alleges that he and his former wife promised not to sell their winery shares without first talking about it. Angelina went to court in June 2021 to sell her portion in the winery, according to TMZ.

He claims to have told Angelina Jolie that he would give the go-ahead depending on who expressed interest. According to his petition, he was astonished to learn that Angelina’s part in the vineyard had been purchased by Tenute del Mondo, a Stoli Group affiliate, in October 2021.

He claims he was not asked about the sale and did not consent to it, and he accuses his ex of withholding information from him on purpose.

Brad claims the buyer is making it impossible to run the vineyard, according to his lawsuit complaint. As a result, he’s suing for the sale to be reversed and damages.
According to court documents, the ex-couples agreed to release a standard “temporary restraining order” on their assets in September 2021.

The former couple were allowed to sell their personal belongings acquired during their marriage, including Angelina’s portion of their French estate, Chateau Miraval, as part of the agreement.

While the two may have agreed on one thing, they could not agree on much else, forcing Brad to sue the Oscar winner.

Despite claiming to have put in “a significant amount of work, time, and money,” the Maleficent star, 46, was allegedly trying to sell her share of the property without giving Brad his “right of first refusal and profit,” according to the lawsuit.

Quimicum, a joint venture between Brad’s company Mondo Bongo and Angelina’s company Nouvel, appears to own the property.

The famous couple married in 2014 and divorced in 2016. Since then, they have been locked in a bitter divorce and custody battle. Maddox, 20, Pax, 17, Zahara, 16, Shiloh, 15, and Vivienne and Knox, 13, are Angelina and Brad’s six children.

VP Harris Arrives in Munich for Unity and Strength Against Russian Aggression

0

U.S. Vice President Kamala Harris arrives in Munich, where she will focus on consulting with allies and NATO about the Russia-Ukraine crisis.

“The vice president will underscore how that unity is a source of strength that will allow us to respond swiftly and severely to any further Russian aggression,” a senior administration official told reporters in a briefing Wednesday. “Her speech will also focus on reassuring our allies and partners of our commitments and how we’re committed to bolstering NATO and reinforcing our allies in the face of Russian aggression. And she’ll talk about how a further invasion of Ukraine, we believe, will leave Russia weaker and not stronger.”

While in Germany, where Harris will lead the U.S. delegation at the Munich Security Conference, she is scheduled to meet with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg and the leaders of Latvia, Lithuania and Estonia.

Harris is also due to give an address Saturday that administration officials said would highlight the level of unity among Western countries and NATO members on diplomatic, military and economic fronts.

Officials said the overall objective of the trip is making sure Western allies are “fully aligned” and send a clear message to Russia about the path forward.

“Our preference is diplomacy and deterrence, but if Russia chooses aggression, we are ready,” an administration official said.

Russia has denied it has plans to invade Ukraine, and in recent days has announced several rounds of troop withdrawals from areas along its border with Ukraine.

The United States and NATO have said there is no evidence of any withdrawals, and a senior U.S. administration official told reporters Wednesday that Russia has instead been adding troops to the border area.

Biden and Boris Accuse Russia of Destabilizing Ukraine with Invasion Warnings

0

President Joe Biden has warned Russian President Vladimir Putin that if the Kremlin attacks Ukraine, Russia’s former Soviet neighbor, he will face unprecedented and punishing economic consequences.

The enhanced military presence is similar to Russia’s strategy before the illegal annexation of Crimea, a peninsula on the Black Sea, in 2014, which sparked international outrage and led to sanctions against Moscow.

Pro-Russian rebels are accused of attacking a town near the border by Ukraine.
Meanwhile, in the United States, Secretary of State Antony Blinken in talks with the UN to make an imperative appeal against an invasion, Daily Mail reported.

For months, the United States and its Western allies have watched as Kremlin forces steadily increased along Ukraine’s border with Russia and Belarus.

During an unexpected statement on Thursday to the United Nations Security Council, Secretary of State Antony Blinken urged Russia to quickly de-escalate tensions on Ukraine’s border and engage in conversation and diplomacy.

Blinken, who had planned to travel to Munich with Vice President Kamala Harris earlier in the day, instead went to New York at the invitation of US Ambassador to the UN Linda Thomas-Greenfield. Thomas-Greenfield told reporters that there was information on the ground that indicates that Russia is preparing for an invasion.

A Russian official denied before the United Nations Security Council on Thursday that Moscow was planning an attack on Ukraine, echoing messages from the Kremlin’s highest echelons for months.

During his speech, Russia’s Deputy Foreign Minister Sergey Vershinin stated charges of a growing Russian invasion by the US and its allies are “baseless.” He stated that Russia did not intend to attack Ukraine and that people should resist to “play to the cameras.”

According to NBC News, President Joe Biden cautioned that the risk of Russia invading Ukraine is “very high,” telling reporters that an invasion might occur within “the next several days.”

Outside the White House, Biden also claimed the US had grounds to believe Russia is attempting a “false flag” operation, in which it would blame a provocative action on its rivals as a pretext for an invasion.

(Photo: RobinhoodNews.com)

Biden reiterated that he still believes the problem can be resolved diplomatically.
The Russian government responded to US suggestions for security guarantees over Ukraine on Thursday, saying that the demands to withdraw troops from specified places on Russian territory are unacceptable and will damage the possibilities for serious accords.

According to official media, Moscow also demanded that the West should cease sending weapons into Ukraine and Western soldiers, bases, and military activities be withdrawn from nations that were once part of the Soviet Union.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson told PA Media on Thursday that the attack on a kindergarten in Eastern Ukraine in was a “false flag operation” that was designed to disgrace the people of the country.
