Obama to join Biden at the White House to unveil upgrades to ACA-Obamacare

0

On Tuesday, two popular and effective presidents of the nation–Joe Biden and Barack Obama will join together to unveil the Affordable Care Act (ACA), commonly called Obamacare. The new act has fixed a glitch and has also been upgraded to be more inclusive. The presidents believe that these changes will help American families save thousands of dollars in healthcare.

Former president Barack Obama will return to his former home for the first on Tuesday, since he left office. Obama left the White House after completing his second term in 2017. He is returning for a momentous occasion as this signature healthcare law, commonly called Obamacare, has had a tremendous influence in the lives of millions of Americans and will continue to do so. Obamacare is considered to be one of the best achievements of his presidential tenure.

The Biden administration will fix the “family glitch” in an event that will take place, on Tuesday afternoon at 1.30 p.m. EDT at the Rose Garden. This is considered to be the most significant administrative action taken that will improve the ACA since its landmark debut in 2010.

When the law, which had benefited Americans from more than a decade, was enacted Barack Obama was the president and Joe Biden was the vice president of the nation. Now, both the presidents will address the nation and tout Its far reaching effects, which have transformed healthcare in the U.S. The ACA will boost the healthcare of many more Americans as it will be cost effective. It will increase the number of people who will benefit from it.

The White House said in a statement: “Thanks to the landmark American Rescue Plan, ACA premiums are at an all-time low, while enrollment is at an all-time high.”

It also noted that four out of five Americans were able to find “quality coverage under $10 a month.” It also mentioned that American families could save approximately $2,400 each year on annual premiums, which led to a monthly saving of $200 that could be used by these families for other expenses.

White House press secretary Jen Psaki said that the two Democrat leaders, who are also friends, will have lunch together at the White House. Although both former president Barack Obama and president Joe Biden have kept in touch with each other, this will be the first time that they will be together, in the White House, since 2017.

Musk Now Owns 9.2% Stake in Twitter and becomes a major shareholder

According to a Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) 13G report issued Monday, Musk holds 73,486,938 shares of Twitter, representing a 9.2% passive ownership in the firm. Based on Twitter’s price at Friday’s market close, the stake is worth $2.89 billion.

Elon Musk, the CEO of Tesla, bought a substantial interest in Twitter, making him the social media business’s largest outside stakeholder, not long after denouncing the company for failing to maintain the fundamentals of free speech.

The purchase comes less than two weeks after Musk chastised the company on  Twitter, asking followers whether it upholds free speech values.

On Twitter, Musk polled his more than 80 million Twitter followers last month, asking if the company adhered to free speech ideals. He inquired if a new platform was needed after more than 70 percent responded no. Musk then hinted that he was considering creating a new social media platform.

According to analysts, Musk appears to be more interested in altering Twitter from within. While holding 9.2 percent of Twitter does not give him complete control over the firm, it does give him the ability to influence future choices. It also offers the possibility of a future buyout.

Musk’s major means of communication with the general public is Twitter, which he uses multiple times a day. He is one of the most well-known Twitter users, and has a history of getting into controversy on the platform. The CEO is attempting to get out of a 2018 agreement with the SEC that imposed restrictions on his tweeting about the electric vehicle company.

On Aug. 7, 2018, Musk announced that he had “financing secured” to take  Tesla  private at a price of $420 per share. For Musk and Tesla shareholders, the year after that tweet was a roller coaster. The corporation set performance records during that time, but it also had to cope with litigation, government investigations, and layoffs. Musk also struck a deal with the Securities and Exchange Commission, which saw him removed from his position as chairman of Tesla.

Missing Florida Mom Cassie Carli found in Alabama barn, with connections to ex, Police say

0

One week after a Florida mom was reported missing, Alabama police said that they have found her body in a shallow grave. The grave was inside a barn in Alabama. The 37-year old woman had disappeared after she had gone to meet her ex-boyfriend, to pick up her daughter Saylor, at Navarre Beach, Florida, in a custody exchange. He is now under arrest. Cassie Carli had been missing from March 27. Her ex Marcus Spanevelo is also Saylor’s father.

At a new conference, on Sunday afternoon. Santa Rosa County Sheriff Bob Johnson said that they had discovered her body in Springville while executing a search warrant in Alabama. He said that the body was in a barn, in a shallow grave. He added that it was not the ending they wanted, obviously but hoped that it would provide some closure to the family.

He added that a suspect was in custody for tampering with and destroying evidence. The sheriff added that the office would not reveal further details, at this time as it is an ongoing investigation but did mention that there was a connection between the property where her body was found and the suspect.

Marcus Spanevelo, was arrested at a traffic stop in Lebanon, Tennessee. The Tennessee Bureau of Investigation had arrested him based on a warrant issued by the Major Crimes Unit at the Santa Rosa County Sheriff’s Office.

Cassie’s body has been identified by a specific tattoo she had, which matched tattoos that were also present on her father and sister and this was confirmed by her sister, as well. The Sheriff said that an autopsy would be conducted, on Monday, following which charges would be filed.

Cassie’s father reported her missing the next day after she was supposed to meet her ex. The Santa Rosa County Office said that 4-year old Saylor was safe and not harmed. She was found with her dad, in Birmingham, Alabama, during the time they were investigating the disappearance of her mother. The investigation is ongoing.

Why is Tesla not resuming production at Shanghai factory on Monday

Tesla Inc. had expected to resume operations at its giga factory, in Shanghai, China, on Monday. However, it sent an internal notice to its staff in the city, which said that production would not restart after the weekend. Reuters had earlier reported about the resumption of production on the first day of the new week but the outlet has seen a notice that says that work will not begin.

Although the notice mentioned that work would not resume on Monday, it did not mention the reasons for halting production nor did it mention an expected date of resumption of operations in Shanghai.

Tesla first shut down production in Shanghai, on March 28. Beijing had launched a two-stage lockdown in areas east of the Huangpu River, where its gigafactory is located. The electric vehicle (EV) manufacturer was hoping for a four-day halt in production. However, work has been halted for a longer period as a result of restrictions in the eastern side of Shanghai. Most parts of the city are now under lockdown.

This is one of the longest stoppage of work, according to sources who spoke to Reuters. They also said that the EV maker rolls out 6,000 Model 3 and 10,000 Model Y cars, each week at its gigafactory in the city. The Shanghai plant had round-the-clock production.

A while ago, CEO Elon Musk had said that the Shanghai plant had been producing more vehicles when compared with its plant in Fremont, California. The Shanghai plant rolls out EVs for both domestic and international markets such as Germany and Japan. However, German exports might taper down as Tesla opened a giga factory near Berlin, on March 15. This is its first factory in Europe and is reported to be a $5 billion facility.

Although Tesla did not respond when asked for comment, Elon Musk posted on his favorite platform Twitter, on Saturday. He noted that it had been an “exceptionally” difficult quarter. He mentioned supply chain interruptions and China’s zero-COVID policy as reasons that lead to low production.

Kanye West’s rep says rapper not ‘going away to get help,’ Kim’s story ‘simply untrue

A representative of Kanye West denied that the rapper was seeking help in the aftermath of his tirade against Trevor Noah as well as his social media attacks on Kim and her boyfriend Pete Davidson, in the recent past. Ye had faced a ban on social media and a source close to the Kardashians had said that Kanye had told Kim that he was going away to get help.

The alleged source had told Page Six about Kanye seeking help. However, Kanye’s representative has denied the claim by this source. The rep, who is Hollywood Unlocked founder Jason Lee as well as the latest Head of Media and Partnerships of the rapper, released a statement to Yahoo on April 1, refuting the claim.

Lee said that Ye (as he is now called) monitored all the headlines about him and his family, each day. It also said that ‘sources close to the Kardashians’ had been creating a “false narrative” that was not only “untrue” but had further compromised his goal which was to create a healthy environment for the beautiful children that he shared with Kim Kardashians. They have four children.

The rep also added that Kanye had been focused on taking care of himself by “being a present and loving father” as well as a creative genius much before the false headlines that they had recently seen.

Lee also told Yahoo that there was no conversation with Kim. He added that anything not heard directly from his mouth or read from his social media or obtained from a press release that he approved was “simply false.”

Kanye has been silent on social media after he was banned from Instagram, some days ago. He had deleted his posts after he was called out for using a racial slur against Trevor Noah. He had been dropped from performing at the Grammys, on Sunday. However, he won two awards for Rap Song “Jail” and for Melodic Rap Performance “Hurricane” at the Grammys.

An example of how Walmart cares about Americans’ health

Walmart, the world’s largest retailer and employer in the USA will no longer sell cigarettes in certain stores in the nation as it looks to change its policies on tobacco. This is a great step for Walmart as it shows that the giant retailer cares about the health of Americans.

Many large retail chains have come under fire for selling tobacco and not taking a proactive step to show concern for their customers’ well being.

The states that are participating in this ‘no cigarette sales in Walmart’ are Arkansas, California, Florida, and New Mexico. Grab and go self-checkout registers will be filled with fast to go food and candy. The move affects some of the 5,000 stores Walmart that are located in the U.S.

Walmart (WMT), raised the minimum age to buy tobacco to 21. It has also stopped selling e-cigarettes at many Sam’s Club stores that are owned by Walmart. Target and CVS have also stopped selling tobacco in their stores.

According to the most recent Federal Trade Commission Cigarette Report, the number of cigarettes that the largest cigarette companies in the United States sold to wholesalers and retailers nationwide increased from 202.9 billion in 2019 to 203.7 billion in 2020. This is the first-time that annual cigarette sales have increased in 20 years.

Winners and Losers at The Grammys 2022- Was there drama like the Oscars?

Compared to the recent Oscars award, the Grammys 2022 was a rather tame, yet fantastic event as the focus remained on music and musical talent. Some of the nominees went home happy while receiving multiple awards, while others went home disappointed. Some of the major winners included Olivia Rodriguez, Silk Sonic and Jon Batiste.

Jon Batiste emerged as the biggest winner by earning five awards. The 35-year old singer had the most nominations as well. He won Album of the Year for “We Are” despite facing fierce competition from musical biggies and veterans. The veteran jazz keyboardist thanked many and said that music was “a spiritual experience” for him.

Silk Sonic were close behind, winning four awards. The R&B duo won the much sought after Record of the year. Bruno Mars and Anderson Paak won the award for “Leave The Door Open” which also picked up “Song of the Year.” Anderson Paak humorously said that they were trying to remain humble, but called their awards “a clean sweep.” They also won Song Of The Year for “Leave The Door Open.”

Olivia Rodriguez was overwhelmed as she won three awards. The 19-year old singer began her career as a child artist at Disney Channel children shows. She also had an “Oops” moment when she was unable to clutch all three awards when the press and others were clicking photos. She won Grammys in the following categories: Best New Artist, Best Pop Solo Performance and Best Pop Vocal Album for “Sour”

However, it was Doja Cat who brought some amusement or embarrassment to the Grammys, whichever way you look at it. She almost missed collecting the award for by a whisker. Collaborator SZA reached the stage before her, despite using crutches, due to an earlier mishap.

Doja Cat scrambled on stage, thanked the audience and took a minute to readjust her gown, which was semi sheer, to avoid a possible wardrobe malfunction. She was late on stage due to a badly timed bathroom break. She exclaimed that she had “never taken such a fast p*** in her life.” They won the award for Best Pop Duo for “Kiss Me More.”

The Grammys were hosted by Trevor Noah and were held at Las Vegas. The earlier scheduled event in January in Los Angeles had to be postponed due to COVID.
