European captain Luke Donald named Italy’s Francesco Molinari as a 2027 Ryder Cup vice-captain on Wednesday.

Molinari, 43, will join older brother Edoardo Molinari in that role at Ireland’s Adare Manor from Sept 17-19, 2027.

The siblings were both vice-captains for Donald’s winning teams against the United States in 2023 and 2025.

“I’m really excited to have Francesco back on board,” Donald said. “He has been an integral part of the backroom team as a vice-captain the last two times I’ve been captain.”

Francesco Molinari, winner of the 2018 Open Championship, played for Europe’s winning Ryder Cup teams in 2010, 2012 and 2018. He secured a critical half-point against Tiger Woods to complete Europe’s “Miracle at Medinah” in 2012 and earned five wins in five matches in Paris in 2018.

“I was very pleased when Luke asked me. I’ve had two great experiences in Rome and New York, two very different ones, but both of them memorable and some of the best weeks of my life,” he said. “So, it was an easy, straightforward decision. Anytime you get asked to be involved, there’s only one possible answer and I can’t wait to be there again.”

Jim Furyk will captain the U.S. team at Limerick, Ireland, in 2027.
