After six weeks of testimony that has gripped the world, Tesla CEO Elon Musk has finally weighed in on the celebrity defamation trial of his ex-girlfriend celebrity actress Amber Heard and celebrity Johnny Depp.
On Saturday, just one day after the case was submitted to the jury, Elon Musk took to Twitter and spoke on the Johnny Depp-Amber Heard trial.
Lex Fridman, a podcast presenter and MIT research scientist, shared his takeaway from the defamation trial on Twitter on Friday, providing five bullet points regarding fame, love, lawyers, lying, and wine.
Musk later tweeted in response, saying that he hoped “they both move on.” He also said that each of the actors is incredible when they are at their best.
Musk and Heard were originally linked in 2016. During the trial, Depp accused the Aquaman actress of starting a romantic relationship with Musk “no later than one month after” her marriage to Depp in 2015.
In the lawsuit, Depp alleged that while he was out of the country, Heard received “late night” visits from billionaire industrialist at their L.A. penthouse.
According to Depp, Musk was permitted access to his home the same night Heard exposed her damaged face to the public. His lawsuit claims that Heard’s allegations of domestic abuse against Depp were fraudulent and deceptive.
Depp and Heard divorced in May 2016, after Heard secured a domestic violence restraining order against him. The actor rejected her allegations of abuse, and the former couple reached an out-of-court settlement in August 2016.
The ‘Pirates of the Caribbean’ star is suing Heard for $50 million in defamation over an op-ed she published in December 2018 about coming forward with abuse allegations, albeit she did not mention him by name. In response, Heard is suing him for defamation and wants $100 million in damages.
On Friday, the exes’ attorneys delivered their closing arguments in the current trial in Fairfax, Virginia, outlining many of the claims made by either side since the trial began on April 11.
Camille Vasquez, Depp’s attorney, requested that jury to either believe everything or nothing, of Heard’s abuse allegations against Depp.
She also accused Heard of cruelty and she had come to the courtroom to give the performance of her life, and she had.
During his own closing statements, Heard’s attorney Ben Rottenborn played the video of Depp slamming the kitchen cabinets, asking the jury to decide who was the monster.
