Although Disney (DIS) recently managed not only to maintain the status quo but also to restrict use of its brand by others, using a royal charter, Florida governor Ron DeSantis has not given up his fight with the House of Mouse. Although the castles in Disney prevailed with their royal heritage, the legislature of Florida and its governor have deemed their moves as legally unsound, in a recent press conference. However, former president Donald Trump called out the move by DeSantis against Disney in Truth Social.
On April 17, Florida governor Ron DeSantis addressed a press conference at the Reedy Creek building in Lake Buena Vista. He said that the state legislature had the “authority to revoke development agreements” that had been signed by Disney. He declared that they would revoke the agreements and that they would uphold and establish “the people’s will.”

Governor Ron DeSantis ticked off the measures that his government could take against Disney and Reedy Creek. He mentioned tighter building and safety inspections and WDW monorail. He also spoke of an increase in remuneration for first responders, as well as of affordable housing for employees of Disney parks and stopping “medical authoritarian policies” such as mandatory mask wearing.
Governor DeSantis also mused aloud about the development of surrounding land that was not owned by Disney and threw out possibilities such as “a state park” and “more amusement parks.” He added, “Someone even said, ‘Maybe you even need another state prison.’”

He then said, “Who knows? I just think that the possibilities are endless.”
On April 18, former president Donald Trump said, “DeSanctus is being absolutely destroyed by Disney. His original P.R. plan fizzled, so now he’s going back with a new one in order to save face” and more. Trump referred to DeSantis on Truth Social using a nickname.
Former Republican New Jersey Governor Chris Christie also criticized DeSantis and said that his actions were not in line with a “conservative” position and stressed that his stance was that the government should “stay out of the business of business.”
