Yue Yu, a dermatologist from Southern California was arrested for alleged poisoning her husband, last week. Police said that her husband who suspected that he was being poisoned had set up a hidden camera that caught her in the act. He turned over the video evidence to authorities when they reached their home, with a search warrant.
The police said that Yu’s husband from 10 years, whose name was withheld, had been suffering from an inexplicable ailment from about four weeks. He examined his routine and wondered about the cause of his ailment. The 53-year old man suspected his wife might be causing it.
The husband hid a camera in a place that could capture his wife poisoning him. The 45-year old dermatologist was caught, on Thursday as Irvine police served them with a search warrant. He gave the video evidence to the authorities.
Irvine police also said that although the husband had several internal injuries, he was expected to survive. An Irvine police lieutenant shared these details, on Monday, with several news outlet but refused to provide other details such as the type of poison, the way it was administered, the motive and more as it is an ongoing investigation.
Yue Yu is reported to be a dermatologist affiliated with Providence Mission Hospital. The hospital issued a statement that said that they were aware that she had been arrested and that they were cooperating with the police. They also called it a domestic issue and said that it had not affected patient care.
According to court documents seen by The Post, her husband filed for an emergency restraining order against his wife, on Friday, the day after her arrest, on Thursday. The dermatologist is expected to appear in court, on Monday. She was released on a $30,000 bond, late Friday, according to online records.
Yue Yu and her husband have been married for about a decade. They have two children who are 7 and 8 years old. On Friday, the husband of the dermatologist from Orange County, California, also filed for divorce and is seeking sole custody of their children, according to the outlet.
Yue Yu and her husband were not reachable while staff at the Mission Viejo office where she worked declined to comment, according to several outlets.
