Davis Love III withdrew before the start of Thursday’s opening round of the U.S. Senior Open.
Tom Werkmeister, the first alternate, replaced Love in the field at SentryWorld in Stevens Point, Wis.
No reason was announced for Love’s decision.
Love, 59, was a 21-time winner on the PGA Tour, including the 1997 PGA Championship for his only major.
