A teacher was hit by a chair when she reportedly tried to intervene when there was an alleged altercation between students at a school in Flint. The Superintendent said the teacher had been hospitalized after a “distressing attack” by a student. The short video of the attack has gone viral on social media. Although Flint Community Schools did not confirm the video as the incident that took place at a school in Flint, they said that there is an ongoing investigation into the incident.

The video ends with a metal chair thrown across the room. A teacher is hit on the head and falls unconscious to the floor when the footage stops.

Earlier in the video students can be seen arguing and one specific student is shouting across the room. The teacher seems to be looking to diffuse the situation as she stands apparently in the middle of the room.

Unfortunately, the situation takes a turn for the worst as the student who was apparently shouting earlier picks up a chair and hurls it across the room. It strikes the teacher in the head, and she falls.

There are screams throughout the room.

Kevelin Jones, who is the Superintendent of Flint Community Schools, said that the incident took place on Thursday, September 28, 2023. The teacher and students are from Southwestern Classical Academy High School.

The teacher was released from hospital after an evaluation. The teacher is expected to return to work, according to Flint Schools, while the student who had been involved in the incident would be held accountable.

A letter has been sent from the Superintendent to the families in Flint. The letter detailed the incident and more.

Many on social media have called for legal action for the assault on the teacher by the student.
