Undefeated Vanderbilt got double-figure scoring from six players in a 104-75 win over Arkansas-Pine Bluff on Saturday afternoon in Nashville, Tenn.

Duke Miles (20 points), Devin McGlockton (17), AK Okereke (14), Tyler Harris (13), Tyler Tanner (12) and Tyler Nickel (11) led Vanderbilt (4-0) in scoring.

McGlockton pulled down a game-high nine rebounds and Tanner contributed a game-high nine assists while not committing a turnover.

It wasn’t the best shooting day for Vanderbilt, which averaged 100.7 points coming in and topped 100 points for the third time. The Commodores shot a season-low 32.4% from 3, but made it up due to substantial edges in turnovers (seven to the Golden Lions’ 13) and rebounds (49-28).

Arkansas Pine-Bluff (0-4) surpassed its previous season high of 74 points thanks to a season-high 22 points from Trevon Payton and 20 from Quion Williams. However, a season-worst five points from leading scorer Jaquan Scott, who averaged 17.0 points coming in, didn’t help.

Vanderbilt took its largest lead to that point (87-64) when Harris canned a 3 with 6:20 left.

The lead went to 30 for the first time on a pair of Harris free throws with 4:12 remaining.

The Commodores, a 41-point favorites and winners of their first three games by an average of 27.7 points, jumped out to a 7-0 lead and never trailed.

However, it wasn’t as easy as expected. The Golden Lions cut the lead to 15-14 early and kept it close as the Commodores went into a mid-half shooting slump.

By half, the lead was 43-31, with McGlockton’s 10 points and six rebounds leading the way in both categories.

Arkansas-Pine Bluff held Vanderbilt, which shot 43.2% on 3s coming in, to just 4-of-18 (22.2%) behind the arc in the first half.

This was the second in a three-game stretch of Power Four opponents for UAPB, which fell 95-69 at Oklahoma on Tuesday and travels to SMU this coming Tuesday.

Vanderbilt’s backup point guard Frankie Collins was a game-time decision by a school official with what was termed a lower-body injury. Collins didn’t dress. He had played in all three previous games, averaging 2 minutes, 9.7 points and 5.3 assists.
