Mike Conley scored 21 points on 8-for-15 shooting, and the Minnesota Timberwolves rallied for a 104-91 win over the Cleveland Cavaliers on Friday night in Minneapolis.
Anthony Edwards recorded 16 points, 13 rebounds and five assists for Minnesota (48-22). Naz Reid scored 18 points, and Rudy Gobert finished with a game-high 15 rebounds to go along with nine points and two blocked shots. The Timberwolves have won four of their last five games.
Darius Garland scored 19 points to lead Cleveland (43-27). Jarrett Allen notched 15 points and 13 rebounds as the Cavaliers dropped their second game in a row and fell to 2-5 in their past seven.
The Timberwolves outscored the Cavaliers 58-42 in the second half to secure the win.
With Minnesota leading by seven points, Kyle Anderson made a jump shot and Conley followed with a 3-pointer in the first two minutes of the fourth quarter. That gave the Timberwolves a double-digit lead at 80-68, and they held firm the rest of the way.
Gobert made an alley-oop dunk off a feed from Conley to put Minnesota on top 101-89 with 1:51 remaining. Conley added a 3-pointer in the final minute to finish the scoring.
Minnesota rallied for a 72-66 lead at the end of the third quarter.
Caris LeVert gave Cleveland a 56-49 lead on a jumper with 9:53 left in the third quarter.
The Timberwolves followed with a 9-2 run to even the score at 58-58. Gobert gave Minnesota a 64-62 lead with a dunk off a lob pass from Conley with 5:51 to go.
A tip shot by Anderson increased the Timberwolves’ lead to 72-64 in the final minute of the third quarter. Cleveland cut the deficit to six on a jumper by Allen with 41 seconds remaining.
The Cavaliers led 49-46 at the half.
Jordan McLaughlin made a 3-pointer off an assist from Monte Morris to give the Timberwolves a 44-36 lead with 4:46 to go before the break.
Cleveland responded by finishing the second quarter on a 13-2 run to pull ahead.
