A teacher was hit by a chair when she reportedly tried to intervene when there was an alleged altercation between students at a school in Flint. The Superintendent said the teacher had been hospitalized after a “distressing attack” by a student. The short video of the attack has gone viral on social media. Although Flint Community Schools did not confirm the video as the incident that took place at a school in Flint, they said that there is an ongoing investigation into the incident.
The video ends with a metal chair thrown across the room. A teacher is hit on the head and falls unconscious to the floor when the footage stops.
Earlier in the video students can be seen arguing and one specific student is shouting across the room. The teacher seems to be looking to diffuse the situation as she stands apparently in the middle of the room.
Unfortunately, the situation takes a turn for the worst as the student who was apparently shouting earlier picks up a chair and hurls it across the room. It strikes the teacher in the head, and she falls.
There are screams throughout the room.
Kevelin Jones, who is the Superintendent of Flint Community Schools, said that the incident took place on Thursday, September 28, 2023. The teacher and students are from Southwestern Classical Academy High School.

The teacher was released from hospital after an evaluation. The teacher is expected to return to work, according to Flint Schools, while the student who had been involved in the incident would be held accountable.
A letter has been sent from the Superintendent to the families in Flint. The letter detailed the incident and more.
Many on social media have called for legal action for the assault on the teacher by the student.

Former ABC journalist James Gordon Meek received a six-year prison term on Friday after pleading guilty to charges including transportation and possession of child sexual abuse images and videos, in July. His legal team had asked for the minimum five-year term saying that his war and torture reporting was partly the reason for his habit while the prosecutor asked for the maximum sentence of almost 16 years. A judge gave him a six-year prison term.
Cloud storage provider Dropbox sent a tip to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children. The center helps companies identify and law enforcement to identify and to prosecute those who exploit children. FBI agents followed the tip and were able to link Meek to the Dropbox account that contained the imagery.
FBI agents searched Meek’s residence and found dozens of images and videos from 2014 that resulted in the filing of the case against the Emmy award winning journalist.
The Friday sentence by Judge Claude Hilton, who was appointed during the Ronald Raegan administration, was hailed by the defense team while the prosecutors failed to get a longer sentence. Meek’s attorney Eugene Gorokhov said that the judge accepted that “Mr. Meek’s worst moments do not define him.”
Meek apologized to his victims as he read a lengthy statement in court.
The U.S. Attorney’s Office said in a press release that the case was part of a nationwide initiative called “Project Safe Childhood.” It also stated that this initiative was “launched in May 2006 by the Department of Justice to combat the growing epidemic of child sexual exploitation and abuse.”
James Gordon Meek was employed by the New York Daily News and was also a senior counterterrorism adviser for the U.S. House Committee of Homeland Security. He joined the Washington bureau of ABC in 2013. He resigned shortly after the raid by federal agents in his home in Virginia from where they collected the imagery and videos. The 53-year-old divorcee is a father of two girls.
Neither ABC, nor James Gordon Meek have released a statement to date after the prison sentence, but many have commented on social media that the sentencing was lenient. Some compared it to Danny Masterson longer sentence for rape and also other cases that also received maximum sentences or close to the maximum sentence.

Florida finished a perfect run through the playoffs after finishing 2-0 in Group 2 and winning 3-1 over the Boston Uprising in a semifinal match earlier Sunday.
The Mayhem earned their first championship and the $1 million grand prize that came with it. Tae-min “MER1T” Choi of South Korea was named Most Valuable Player of the grand final.

The Las Vegas Aces will look to finish off the Dallas Wings and advance to the WNBA Finals when the two teams square off in Game 3 of their semifinal series on Friday in Arlington, Texas.
The Aces have swept the first two games of the best-of-five series, meaning Dallas must win on Friday to stay alive. If Dallas wins, it will host again on Sunday.
To do that, Dallas must find a way to stop the Aces’ star center A’Ja Wilson, who has dominated the first two games. Las Vegas never trailed in Tuesday’s 91-84 Game 2 victory as Wilson poured in 30 points and grabbed 11 rebounds — becoming the first player in WNBA history to score 30 or more points in three consecutive playoff games.
Wilson scored 34 points in the Aces’ 97-83 win in Game 1 on Sunday and 38 in the clinching game of Las Vegas’ first-round series victory over Chicago on Sept. 17.
She canned 10 of her 18 shots from the field in Game 2 against Dallas to help spur the victory.
“This is what I get paid to do,” Wilson said Tuesday. “I get paid to play basketball and have fun with my teammates. This is kind of what I’m made for, and I try to make sure that my team is s doing the same.”
Chelsea Gray added 23 points and eight assists for top-seeded Las Vegas, with Kelsey Plum scoring 18 and Jackie Young adding 13 points and nine rebounds.
Arike Ogunbowale paced Dallas with 24 points in the loss while Natasha Howard (20 points, 10 rebounds) and Teaira McCowan (12, 10) each recorded double-doubles.
“We got the 14-point loss in the first game down to seven this time, and we’ve done a lot of good things in both games,” Dallas coach Latricia Trammell said Tuesday. “We still have that championship spirit and that championship mentality. I liked our physicality and the way we played in the paint. We just have to be better.”
That will be difficult if the Wings can’t stop Wilson.
“We were able to stick to the game plan mostly with (Wilson), but she’s pulled in a lot from her bag of tricks — which is considerable,” Trammell said. “We have to keep her off the free-throw line and make her earn her points.”
The Celtics made the latest move in what has turned into an arms race in the Eastern Conference, trading for All-Star guard Jrue Holiday on Sunday, a deal that sportsbooks believe got Boston one step closer to a title.
In the wake of a trade that sent star guard Damian Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks — for a package that included Holiday — the Celtics didn’t back down to their Eastern Conference foe, shipping Malcolm Brogdon, Robert Williams III and a pair of first-round picks to the Portland Trail Blazers in exchange for Holiday.
Milwaukee’s big splash made it title favorites on Wednesday, as the Bucks sat at +400 on both BetMGM and DraftKings, while Boston’s odds went to +500 on both books.
But not even a week later, the Celtics are back in contention.
Boston now sits alongside the Bucks at +400 as the odds-on favorites to win the title on DraftKings. The Celtics are also at +400 at BetMGM, but Milwaukee has moved up to +375.
Meanwhile, FanDuel has both squads at +380, with the next closest team, the Phoenix Suns, sitting at +550. As they try to win back-to-back championships, the Denver Nuggets have the third-best odds at BetMGM and DraftKings, listed at +500 on both books.
Holiday, 33, is a two-time All-Star and averaged 19.3 points, 5.1 rebounds, 7.4 assists and 1.2 steals last season in 67 games (65 starts). He is entering his 15th NBA season.
Boston also acquired big man Kristaps Porzingis this offseason, but the Celtics did lose their longest-tenured player in guard Marcus Smart and bench piece Grant Williams.
Boston opens its season Oct. 25 against the New York Knicks, while the Bucks tip off theirs a day later against the Philadelphia 76ers.
Veronika Kudermetova captured her second career title on Sunday with a 7-5, 6-1 win over second-seeded Jessica Pegula in the final of the Toray Pan Pacific Open in Tokyo.
The eighth-seeded Russian won 65.4 percent of her first serves to claim her first championship since winning in Charleston in April 2021.
Kudermetova, 26, also benefited from three double faults from Pegula to win the match in 84 minutes.
Pegula was unsuccessful in her quest for her second title of the season.

Top-seeded Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus breezed to a 6-1, 6-2 victory over Sofia Kenin in a first-round match in Beijing.
Sabalenka, the world’s top-ranked player, recorded 22 winners against just nine unforced errors to topple the 31st-ranked Kenin in 67 minutes.
Eighth-seeded Marketa Vondrousova of the Czech Republic and countrywoman Barbora Krejcikova were not as fortunate. Ukraine’s Anhelina Kalinina rebounded from a first-set misstep by posting a 1-6, 6-4, 6-1 win over Vondrousova, while Russian Mirra Andreeva notched a 6-2, 6-2 victory over the 10th-seeded Krejcikova.
Thirteenth-seeded Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia bounced back from dropping the first set to secure a 2-6, 6-3, 6-2 win over Eva Lys of Germany.
Carlos Alcaraz continued his dominant 2023 season, defeating Italian Lorenzo Musetti 6-2, 6-2 on Sunday to reach the quarterfinals of the China Open in Beijing.
In the process, the top-seeded Alcaraz became the first player to 60 tour-level wins this year. He moved to 16-1 at ATP 500 events, which included titles at Barcelona and the Queen’s Club in London.
The Spaniard cruised to victory by breaking Musetti’s serve four times and winning points on 70 percent of his first serves.
In the quarterfinals, Alcaraz will take on eighth-seeded Casper Ruud of Norway, who came back to defeat Argentina’s Tomas Martin Etcheverry 1-6, 7-5, 7-6 (7).
The third seed, Holger Dune of Denmark, was upset by Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov 6-3, 7-5. Next up for Dimitrov is Italy’s Jannik Sinner, the sixth seed, who eliminated Yoshihito Nishioka of Japan 6-2, 6-0.
Astana Open
Fifth-seeded Sebastian Korda reached the semifinals in Kazakhstan by knocking off top seed Tallon Griekspoor 6-4, 4-6, 6-3.
He struck 12 aces on his way to his fifth tour semifinal of 2023. It was his first-ever meeting against Griekspoor of the Netherlands.
Next up for Korda is Hamad Medjedovic of Serbia. The 20-year-old eliminated fourth-seeded Czech Jiri Lehecka 6-3, 6-4 to reach the semifinals.
The other semifinal will feature Sebastian Ofner against sixth-seeded Adrian Mannarino of France, who defeated Jurji Rodionov of Austria 6-1, 7-6 (6). Ofner beat fellow Austrian Dominic Thiem 5-7, 6-4, 6-2.
Chelsea manager Mauricio Pochettino will hope his side can finally be rewarded for the chances they’ve created this season when they visit Fulham in Monday’s West London Derby.
After last year’s disappointing 12th-place finish, Chelsea (1-3-2, 5 points) haven’t been able to shake off that uneven form under their new manager despite signs that the substance of the play is improving.
The primary issue has been an injury-plagued attacking group that hasn’t converted chances. Striker Nicolas Jackson, a signing in the summer, has scored only once so far in the league and the Blues as a group have gone goal-less in their last three league matches.
It’s a trying run, but one Pochettino says he’s more equipped to handle now than in previous Premier League managerial stints at Southampton and Tottenham.
“My balance is much better than 10 years ago” he said. “I am more mature now and I try to keep calm. I hope my wife is happy with my behavior now!
“The coaching staff are also more mature. We are not affected too much emotionally, unlike in the past. Even when we win, we keep calm, and when the team is not so good, we keep calm also, to try to identify the best solution for the future.”
Jackson did score midweek in a 1-0 League Cup victory over Brighton, which Chelsea will hope can result in some positive momentum for Monday night’s trip to a Fulham side that has also had some early struggles.
After Fulham (2-2-2, 8 points) earned plaudits for their free-flowing approach to games last season, manager Marco Silva’s squad has had to weather the departure of striker Aleksandar Mitrovic and lean into more pragmatic tactics.
Both the Cottagers’ league wins have come via 1-0 scores, and they have yet to see a player score multiple league goals this campaign. (Carlos Vinicius did add a second goal in all competitions in a 2-1 midweek League Cup win over Norwich City.)
And despite sitting slightly higher in the table, Silva still sees Chelsea as a side with enormous potential.
“Chelsea is Chelsea,” he stated. “No one can underestimate them because the quality is there.
“Of course, they haven’t started the way they would like. Since Mauricio (Pochettino) came in, he is trying to get the things in the right direction for them to fight for titles, like they want to be, but really that’s not the most important thing for us. We will look for ourselves.”
