It’s been a couple of weeks since Alec Baldwin accidentally shot cinematographer Halyna Hutchins with what was called a “cold gun” that was handed to him by assistant director Dave Halls on the set of Rust, a movie shot near Santa Fe in New Mexico. Armorer Hannah Gutierrez-Reed handed over the gun to Halls. A “cold gun” means that it has no live ammo but has blanks. Unfortunately the antique Colt gun had live ammo and a bullet killed Halyna and injured director Joel Souza on his shoulder. He was treated and discharged, since.
As investigations continue, Angelina Jolie has weighed in on the horrific incident. The 46-year old Oscar winner is not new to handling weapons. She has handled or worked with guns in both her roles as actor and director. Some of her super hit action movies that involved guns include Tomb Raiders, Mr & Mrs Smith and Salt.
Angelina said that “certain procedures” on movie sets had to be taken “very seriously” when she was asked for comment on the shooting incident on the set of Rust, according to a report by the Times. She also said, “I’ve always been been careful because I’ve had to work with guns a lot.”
The Eternals star has a pro-gun stance of which she had spoken about in 2008. At that point of time she was married to Brad Pitt. She said that Brad and she were not against having a gun in the house and they had one. She noted that she would be able to use it, if she had to. She declared that she would have no problems shooting anybody, if they tried to hurt her kids.
The Oscar winner and hands-on mother said that she could not imagine what those families were going through, after the shooting. She noted that “the grief and the tragedy” of the horrific accident that took place due to so many factors on the Rust set was quite “overwhelming.”
