Director and producer Ivan Reitman passed away at his California home, Saturday night. He was 75. Popular for several directorial ventures especially Ghostbusters, he managed to create comedies that were enjoyed by millions. His children released a statement to AP that said that he died peacefully in his sleep.

The joint statement from children Jason Reitman, Catherine Reitman and Caroline Reitman said that the entire family was grieving the loss of a husband, father and grandfather who taught them “to seek the magic in life.” It also said that they were comforted to know that he brought “laughter and happiness to countless others around the world” and more.

Reitman came to Toronto, Canada at the age of 4 with his parents who fled Czechoslovakia. He studied at McMaster’s University in Hamilton, Ontario, specializing in music and drama. One of his first movies, Cannibal Girls was picked by American International and this began his onward journey. He collaborated with Dan Aykroyd for a tv series Greed and this became a longstanding partnerships as they delivered several super hits.

His association with the Lampoon group including John Belushi, Gilda Radner and Bill Murray soon led to the production of Animal House in 1978 which was a hit, followed by Stripes, Ghost Busters and more.

Although his bawdy comedies entertained many, the sci-fi comedy-drama Ghostbusters will always be remembered as the pinnacle of his success. Ghostbusters was his biggest hit grossing close to $300 million and was followed by spinoffs.

His son, Josh Reitman recently directed Ghostbusters: Afterlife, where he credited his father Ivan Reitman as an executive producer. It had cameos from the original cast. Ivan Reitman also has a Star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and received a Lifetime Achievement Award.

Kanye West, who changed his name to ‘Ye’, posted childish memes against Billie Eilish, Pete Davidson, Kid Cudi and Taylor Swift. These memes on Instagram by the 44-year old rapper against musicians who are less than half or more than half his age seem childish rather than having any merit, whatsoever.

Recently Billie Eilish helped a fan who was struggling with breathing by stopping and getting her an inhaler. She said that she waited for “people to be okay before I keep going.” This was construed as criticism against Travis Scott, who continued to play during Astroworld despite a stampede. Scott is currently being sued by more than 400 including the families of those who died and those who were injured.

Ye who is a friend of Scott asked Billie Eilish to apologize and said that unless she did, he would not open Coachella with her. Eilish said that she never mentioned Travis but was helping a fan.

Kid Cudi

Ye said that Cudi would not be on his album Donda as he was “friends with you know who.” He was referring to Pete Davidson, his ex Kim Kardashian’s current boyfriend.

Cudi replied saying that he didn’t “wanna be on ur album” and also called him a “dinosaur.”

Ye also posted a famous photo that had Ye, Timothee Chalamet, Cudi and Davidson at Cudi’s birthday party. He put a big red X over Davidson’s face.

Pete Davidson

Ye has been against Davidson ever since Pete and Kim became a couple. Davidson has said that Ye crashed Cudi’s birthday party, moved them to a private room and made Davidson pay the bill.

Another meme had Ye, Drake and J Prince (CEO of Rap-a-Lot Records) vs Pete Davidson and Kid Cudi.

Ye has also circulated rumors that Pete had AIDS and more nonsense.

Taylor Swift

Ye didn’t directly attack Taylor Swift but added her to his latest meme. Late Saturday, Ye posted a meme of the Marvel Movie Captain America: Civil War. One side had him with Drake, Travis Scott, Future and girlfriend Julia Fox. The other side had Pete Davidson, Kim Kardashian, Billie Eilish, Kid Cudi and Taylor Swift.

Ye might be up in the number of posts in a meme war but he will be down with many fans and followers, not only those of his musical juniors but also with some of his own fans with this immature behavior.

There has been immense hype about Universal’s “Nope” directed by Jordan Peele. It is a movie of which much remained under wraps. However, the first cryptic trailer of the movie, scheduled to arrive on July 22nd in theaters near you, has been released, early Sunday morning. It shows a lot of promise that the audiences will give it a big “Yep” as they flock to theaters to see the movie this summer.

The first trailer of “Nope” introduces two characters who are cattle ranchers. They dream of making it big as professional handlers of horses in film production as they work on a ranch in the Californian desert. Just as they seem to be getting a break, there is a large atmospheric anomaly.

Local horses and others get disturbed by the strange and odd seemingly natural, yet unnatural cloud formation. It is believed that the occurrence is a “bad miracle.” We are left wondering what a “bad miracle” is and might not understand what it means possibly till July 22.

There is a brief shot of what could be a UFO trying to make contact with earth. This might indicate that the movie is about aliens. However, there is another possibility that a group of people in a small isolated are being attacked by some strange sort of cloud formation that the animals don’t want to horse around.

Universal Pictures described “Nope” as an “expansive horror epic.” Peele has also unveiled the first official poster of the movie. It shows a huge, scary cloud hanging over what appears to be a carnival. There is a kite streamer that is trailing underneath.

Jordan Peele is the writer, director and producer of “Nope.” The cinematographer is Hoyte van Hoytema and the production company is Monkeypaw Productions.

In the early hours of Saturday morning, police arrested rapper Blueface on several charges, the major one being possession of a concealed firearm in a vehicle. Police sources told TMZ that the rapper was driving with a few people at around 3.15 a.m. The rapper, who name is Johnathan Jamall Porter, was stopped by the police at the intersection of Sunset and Vine, the heart of Hollywood.

He was initially pulled over by the cops for driving a car with an expired registration. As they ran a computer check, they found that his license had been suspended. They asked him to exit from the vehicle. As they searched the vehicle, they found a concealed firearm in the vehicle.

Blueface was then arrested. However, the others in the car were not arrested. The gun was loaded and unregistered and found in the center console of the vehicle. This is a felony charge and the rapper could face up to three years in prison.

The 25-year old rapper, popular for his hit track Thotiana, has been in trouble before. Last November, in an incident in San Fernando Valley he was responsible for beating up a nightclub bouncer. The incident was caught on camera.

The rapper and three other people with him kicked and punched the doorman so badly that he needed stitches. They were charged with two felonies, one of which was for assault and the other was for robbery.

Two months later, Blueface and his manager Wack100 asked the police to come to their home to remove Chrisean Rock from the premises, after Rock and Wack were arguing on issues including whether she belonged in the house and whether he was her manager.

In December 2020, Rock had signed with Blueface records. In the preceding months, she had starred in the reality show by Blueface called Blue Girls Club.

The talented rapper is not new to controversy but Blueface’s latest arrest might have far reaching consequences including a prison term, which he has avoided so far; as he has been caught possessing a loaded, unregistered firearm.
