Perrion Winfrey was released by the Cleveland Browns on Wednesday morning after police launched an investigation into allegations he struck a woman and made a non-verbal threat by revealing a gun tucked into his waistband.

Two women reported encountering Winfrey in a hotel lobby on Tuesday night, alleging he responded to them shouting an insult by striking one woman in the neck, threatening to “smack the s— out of” her and lifting his shirt to show them a gun.

When police arrived, they noted in the report a “red abrasion” on the left side of one woman’s neck where she alleges she’d been struck by Winfrey.

The police report states Winfrey fled the scene before officers arrived. He didn’t return when authorities requested he come back to discuss the matter.

But the women claiming to know the 22-year-old said they recorded part of the encounter with cell phones when he first refused to respond to them.

The police report indicates “good video” exists of the physical confrontation. Winfrey took both cell phones from the women, per the police report, but left them in a nearby alley and informed police of the location.

The defensive tackle was a fourth-round pick in 2022, appearing in 13 games and recording 22 tackles. He was suspended for Week 2 for undisclosed rules violations.
