Geraldo Perdomo hit a go-ahead sacrifice fly in the seventh inning and the visiting Arizona Diamondbacks threw out two San Francisco Giants on the basepaths in a crazy eighth to hold on for a 3-2 victory that completed a second consecutive three-game sweep between the National League West rivals Wednesday afternoon.

Giants starter Trevor McDonald took a one-hitter and a 2-0 lead into the sixth before singles by Ketel Marte, Perdomo and Adrian Del Castillo produced a run that cut the Arizona deficit in half.

After a walk loaded the bases, Ildemaro Vargas’ sacrifice fly tied the score.

Perdomo’s run-scoring fly ball in the seventh followed one-out singles by Tommy Troy and Marte and a fielding error by reliever Matt Gage on a slow roller by Corbin Carroll, loading the bases.

Down 3-2, the Giants caught a break in the eighth when Arizona left fielder Ryan Waldschmidt lost Willy Adames’ one-out fly ball in the sun, a ball that struck the Diamondback on the neck and fell to the turf for what was ruled a double.

Luis Arraez then looped a single just out of the reach of center fielder Jorge Barrosa. But Adames, who had to wait to see if the ball was going to fall in, got a late break off second and was gunned down at the plate on a relay from Waldschmidt to third baseman Jose Fernandez to catcher Aramis Garcia.

Representing the tying run, Arraez advanced to second on the play at the plate. But with hot-hitting Casey Schmitt at bat, Arizona reliever Kevin Ginkel spun and picked Arraez off base to end the inning.

Paul Sewald came on to throw a 1-2-3 ninth for his 14th save and the Diamondbacks’ sixth straight win over the Giants in the last 10 days.

Michael Soroka (7-2) worked the first six innings to earn the win. He limited the Giants to two runs and four hits, striking out three.

McDonald (2-2) took the loss after giving up three runs (two earned) on six hits in 6 1/3 innings. He walked two and struck out six.

Marte finished with two hits for the Diamondbacks in the homer-less game.

The Giants’ scoring was the product of a two-run single by Arraez in the third inning, scoring Drew Gilbert, who had singled, and Adames, who had doubled.

Arraez finished 3-for-4, while Adames chipped in with a pair of doubles.
