Michael Soroka pitched 6 1/3 innings, Geraldo Perdomo doubled in the only run in the first inning, and the Arizona Diamondbacks beat the Texas Rangers 1-0 on Monday in Arlington, Texas.

Soroka (5-2) gave up three hits, all singles, while walking one and striking out five. Three Diamondbacks relievers made it hold up for the team’s third straight victory.

Paul Sewald hit Corey Seager with a pitch with two outs in the ninth but got Josh Jung to fly out for his ninth save in as many chances in the D-backs’ third shutout of the season. Arizona is 19-0 when leading after eight innings.

Soroka has given up more than two runs in only two of his eight starts this season.

Perdomo and Nolan Arenado had two hits apiece for the D-backs.

The Rangers had four hits, all singles. They had won three of five.

Jakob Junis (0-1) gave up the only run in the first inning while starting in place of Nathan Eovaldi, who was a late scratch due to left side tightness. Junis tossed 2 2/3 innings and permitted two runs and no walks while fanning two.

Corbin Carroll looped a hustle double into left-center field with one out in the first and scored on Perdomo’s double to right.

Brandon Nimmo and Ezequiel Duran singled to open the Texas first, and they advanced when second baseman Ketel Marte bobbled a potential double-play grounder. Soroka struck out Jung and got Evan Carter to ground out to end the inning.

Soroka walked Joc Pederson to open the second before retiring the next 11, erasing Pederson on a strikeout-throw-out double play to end the second.

The Rangers did not get another hit until Kyle Higashioka singled to open the sixth, but Soroka retired the next three, one when center fielder Ryan Waldschmidt made his second running catch in as many innings.

The D-backs’ starters have given up one or fewer runs in six of the last seven games and have made seven straight starts of at least six innings, the longest active streak in the majors and the team’s best run since 2017.
