Celebrity actor Kevin Spacey has formally been charged with four counts of sexual assault against three men in the U.K. He is expected to appear at Westminster Magistrates’ Court in London. His scheduled court appearance is at 10:00 a.m. BST, on Thursday, June 16.
Earlier, the Oscar winning celebrity actor had expressed his disappointment at being charged by Crown Prosecution Service (CPS) but had also said that he would voluntarily appear before the court to defend himself against the charges, in a statement.
Producers of his latest film, Peter Five Eight released a statement to The Hollywood Reporter saying that they had faith in the veteran actor. They stated that the “negative” press that the actor received was “unfortunate.” The production said that were unaware of the various allegations that were making their rounds and believe that the court would “determine validity if it existed.”
According to the Metropolitan Police “Kevin Spacey Fowler, 62 (26.07.59), has been formally charged today (Monday, 13 June) with four counts of sexual assault against three men. He has also been charged with causing a person to engage in penetrative sexual activity without consent.”
Kevin Spacey is facing charges linked to complaints that date from 2005 (London), 2008 (London) and 2013 (Gloucestershire) in the U.K. He has also faced sexual assault charges that had been investigated in the U.S., including those leveled by actor Anthony Rapp. Last week, a judge ruled that celebrity actor Kevin Spacey had to stand trial in a New York federal court, following a lawsuit that was filed by Rapp, which accused him of assault.
The celebrity actor is a two-time Oscar winner. He has played iconic roles in films including Seven, L.A. Confidential, American Beauty as well as Baby Driver. Kevin Spacey entered millions of households across the world when he appeared in the Netflix series House of Cards.
