Federal prosecutors announced Thursday that five individuals, including two medical doctors, have been charged in connection with the death of actor Matthew Perry. Among the accused is Jasveen Sangha, known as the “Ketamine Queen,” and Salvador Plasencia, nicknamed “Dr. P.”
Desperate for ketamine, which his regular doctors refused to prescribe in the quantities he desired, actor Matthew Perry turned to the two medical professionals now facing charges. DEA Administrator Anne Milgram revealed that in one instance, Perry paid a staggering $2,000 for a vial of ketamine that cost the physician approximately $12.
Among those arrested Thursday is Dr. Salvador Plasencia, charged with seven counts of distributing ketamine and two counts of falsifying records related to Perry’s death. Also apprehended was Jasveen Sangha, dubbed the “ketamine queen” by prosecutors. Authorities allege that ketamine supplied by Sangha led to Perry’s fatal overdose.
The group faces a range of charges, including conspiracy to distribute ketamine, distribution resulting in death, and falsifying records. According to U.S. Attorney Martin Estrada, the defendants exploited Perry’s addiction for financial gain, prioritizing profit over the actor’s well-being.
Matthew Perry’s assistant, 59-year-old Kenneth Iwamasa, admitted to administering fatal ketamine injection.
Iwamasa pleaded guilty on August 7 to a conspiracy charge in connection with Perry’s death. Prosecutors allege that he repeatedly injected the actor with ketamine, a practice he was unqualified to perform. This dangerous behavior culminated in Perry’s fatal overdose on the day Iwamasa administered the final injection.
When Sangha, the so-called “Ketamine Queen,” learned of Perry’s death on October 28, she allegedly instructed a co-conspirator to erase all incriminating data from their cellphones.
