CWEB is informing web fans that the Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) has asked for a recall of about 440,500 metallic mugs that were included in the Holiday Starbucks-branded Gift Sets 2023 sold by various giant retailers, including Walmart, Target, and Nexcom (military retail outlets). Consumers should stop using the recall mugs immediately, as they can break, overheat, and cause injuries. Nestle USA also posted about the recall.

The CPSC advises consumers to return the mugs to the point of purchase. Stores where they purchased the mug can give them cash or a gift card. Consumers can also contact Nestle’s website in the USA for a total refund, accompanied by a cheque.

Mugs from four gift sets sold during the 2023 holiday season are recalled. They had been sold in sizes of 11 ounces and 16 ounces. The gift sets are
Starbucks Holiday Gift Set with 2 Mugs
Starbucks Classic Hot Cocoa and Mug
Starbucks Peppermint and Classic Hot Cocoas and Mug and
Starbucks Holiday Blend Coffee and Mug.

The ceramic mugs have a metallic coating, and the Starbucks brand can break or overheat when used in the microwave or when filled with boiling liquid. They may cause burn injuries, cuts, and lacerations to those who use the mugs.

There have been 12 incidents due to overheating or breaking, and 10 persons have been injured. Nine persons suffered severe burns or blisters on their hands or fingers. One person cut a finger. Medical attention was required in one incident.

These mugs have been distributed by Nestle USA, Arlington, Virginia, and manufactured in China.
