G2 Esports and Natus Vincere advanced to the semifinals on Friday, joining Eternal Fire and MIBR as the last four standing at the ESL Pro League Season 20 competition in Saint Julian’s, Malta.
Eternal Fire will face MIBR and G2 will take on NaVi in the best-of-three semifinals on Saturday, with the winners squaring off in Sunday’s best-of-five grand final for a top prize of $170,000.
In Friday’s quarterfinal action at the $750,000 Counter-Strike 2 tournament, G2 eliminated Team Liquid 2-1 and NaVi swept Team Spirit.
G2 sandwiched 13-3 wins on Inferno and Nuke around a 13-5 loss on Mirage. Ilya “m0NESY” Osipov of Russia led the winners with 52 kills and a plus-23 kills-to-deaths differential.
NaVi defeated Spirit 13-5 on Dust II and 13-9 on Mirage. Justinas “jL” Lekavicius of Lithuania fueled the win with 47 kills and a plus-26 K-D.
The event began on Sept. 3 with 32 teams.
