Costco (COST) is now recalling salmon items after a supplier reported that these items could be contaminated by listeria. Earlier, the wholesale chain of stores removed stocks of meat and poultry items due to similar fears. This recall follows several other food recalls made in October. The food giant has seen several recalls, all of which might have been contaminated with listeria. CWEB has often reported on food-borne illness listeria, which can prove to be fatal in vulnerable people.
Eduardo Carbajosa, the CEO of Acme Smoked Fish Corp., assured its customers that corrective measures have been taken to prevent contamination of future batches of smoked salmon. He regretted the issue and said customers could get a refund for the contaminated product from Costco.
The affected product is Kirkland Signature Smoked Salmon. It has the item number 1267000. Many web fans would have bought this item between October 9 and October 13. The items belong to lot number 8512801270.
Costco recalled the following items this October as they may be contaminated with listeria.
