Warner Bros. has released its first image of Ken, the iconic boyfriend of Barbie and my, my doesn’t celebrity Ryan Gosling, 41 looks drool worthy as her boyfriend? The debut image shows the star with beach blonde hair and a tanned body. His denim jacket is unbuttoned to show his toned body and six-pack abs. He wears white branded underwear with the name Ken printed. The production had earlier released an image of celebrity Australian actress Margot Robbie, 31 as Barbie, in her pink convertible, outside a Barbie playhouse.
The live-action movie based on Mattel dolls is scheduled to be released on July. The first look was released by the production house with a simple post on Twitter. It gave the title of the movie and the release date of July 21, 2023.
Ryan Gosling as Ken is dressed in the Mattel version called ‘Earring Magic Ken.” The doll was released by the toymaker in 1993. Earlier, “Earring Magic Barbie” was released and the Ken doll was released as her companion.
The Ken doll look was a updated one with blond highlights. Earlier Ken dolls had brown hair. The doll wore a lavender mesh shirt underneath a purple leather jacket. Ken also wore jewelry. He wore an earring as well as a necklace.
Earring Magic Ken became the highest selling Ken doll. There were rumors that the doll designers were inspired by the early nineties gay clubbing scene in cities such as New York and Los Angeles.
Barbie the movie is directed by Greta Gerwig of Little Women and Lady Bird fame. She cowrote the script with partner, collaborator Noah Baumbach of Frances Ha and Mistress America fame. Although no details about the plot have been released, the cast is a galaxy of stars.
