Celebrity rapper Cardi B has been sued by two producers for copyright infringement. The duo, Kemika1956, claims that the beat they used in their song Greasy Frybread, which was featured in the FX series Reservation Dogs in 2021, was copied by Cardi B in her recent hit Enough Miami.

Joshua Fraustro and Miguel Aguilar, called Kemika1956, filed a lawsuit against Cardi B in the US District Court for the Southern District of Texas.

Other defendants listed include OG Parker, DJ Swanko, Atlantic Records, Celebrity Booking Agency, and Warner Music Group.

The lawsuit, filed on Wednesday, claims that the rapper used the same beat in her second single of 2024, Enough Miami.

It also says that their song was used in episode 4 of the FX series Reservation Dogs, with verses from Sten Joddi, an award-winning Indigenous Rapper.

The hit track Greasy Frybread reached No. 9 on the Billboard 100.

According to court records, Fraustro and Aguilar want $50 million for the copyright infringement because they claim they have suffered “substantial damages.”

These damages include financial losses, harm to their artistic reputation, and marketability losses.

Cardi B made history in 2019 when she became the first female rapper to win a Grammy for her album Invasion of Privacy.

It won Best Rap Album at the 61st Grammy Awards Ceremony. Although she did not release a subsequent album, she released many successful singles and collaborations.

Earlier in 2024, Cardi B had said that Enough Miami would be part of an announcement about the rollout of a follow-up to her record-winning album in 2019.

However, she said on social media in June that she would be involved in a “Spanish album.” Earlier this year, she collaborated with celebrity Shakira on Punteria.
