As the verdict in celebrities Johnny Depp and Amber Heard defamation trial came in, other celebrities’ reactions poured in all over social media. Model Naomi Campbell, Sharon Osbourne, Ashley Benson, and Morgana Robinson have shown their support for Depp together with a raft of other celebrities.
Model Naomi Campbell posted heart emojis on Johnny Depp’s Instagram page. She also commented under Depp’s post in which he shared his post-verdict statement on Instagram, leaving four red heart emojis.
Pretty Little Liars star Ashley Benson applauded the decision by posting a photo of Depp on Instagram with the message “YESSSSS” and a series of heart emojis.
British-American television personality Sharon Osbourne, on Piers Morgan’s TalkTV show, said she was shocked by the verdict. She commented she wanted Depp to win, but had not expected he would.
The most crucial comments, however, came from the two parties involved in the litigation. In response to the verdict, Depp issued a long statement in which he stated that the jury had given him his “life back” and that “truth never perishes.”
Responding to Depp’s statement, musician Ryan Adams, who was accused of physical and emotional abuse by many women in 2019, wrote a message with a heart, prayer hands, and flame emojis. DJ Zedd also included heart emoticons in his posts.
Actors LaKeith Stanfield, Gemma Chan, model Bella Hadid, Zoe Saldana, Emma Roberts, New Zealand filmmaker Taika Waititi, actors Henry Golding, Joey King, Jennifer Aniston, Riley Keough, and Jason Momoa, who appears with Heard in the Aquaman films, are among others who have liked Depp’s statement.
Meanwhile, Heard has expressed that the verdict has left her “heartbroken” and sets back the impression that violence against women is to be taken seriously.
Stand-up comedian and actress Amy Schumer appeared to be on Heard’s side when she shared a powerful Gloria Steinem quote on Instagram, which indicated that any woman who picks to behave like a full human being needs to be warned that the status quo army will consider her as something of a nasty joke. “She will need her sisterhood,” she stated.
With an emoji of raised hands underneath Schumer’s article, Lindsay Lohan was among others who expressed support for Heard.
