Nebraska ace Jordy Bahl’s homecoming dance is on hold after the Oklahoma transfer confirmed she is out for the 2024 season with a torn ACL.

Bahl, 44-2 with two national titles for the Sooners, transferred “home” to attend Nebraska this season in an effort to push the Cornhuskers into the Women’s College World Series. She grew up outside of Lincoln and was a travel softball teammate of Nebraska shortstop Billie Andrews.

But the season ended early for the two-time All-American and two-time Big 12 Pitcher of the Year.

“In game 1 of opening week in Puerto Vallarta, I experienced an injury to my acl that is going to cause me to support the Red Team in a different way than anticipated for the 2024 season. With a heart thankful for God’s plan and timing, I will be redshirting this year, and looking forward to a season of growth and learning from a different point of view,” she said in an Instagram post Tuesday. “I’m thankful for the support of my family, friends, coaches and staff. I’m truly blessed to have so many wonderful and loving people by in my life.

“I’m not going anywhere. See you in 2025. GO BIG RED.”

Nebraska’s home opener is scheduled for March 1. The Cornhuskers are the top-ranked team in the Big Ten conference and appear in every major college Top 25 poll.

Bahl, the Most Outstanding Player in the 2023 Women’s CWS, grew up in Papillion and said she nearly committed to Nebraska coming out of high school.

Nebraska was 36-22 last season and reached an NCAA regional each of the past two seasons, but is ranked for the first time since 2015.
