Meta (META), the parent of Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, and other social media platforms, will add UFC’s Dana White to its board of directors. The announcement also mentioned that two other board members, John Elkann, CEO of Exor, and Charlie Songhurst, a technology investor and a former corporate strategist at Microsoft, will join the Meta board of directors.
Mark Zuckerberg said, “Dana, John, and Charlie will add a depth of expertise and perspective to help us tackle the massive opportunities ahead with AI, wearables, and the future of human connection.”
UFC Dana White released a press statement saying he had “never been interested in joining a board of directors until I got the offer to join Meta’s board.”
He said, “Social media and AI are the future. There is nothing I love more than building brands, and I look forward to helping take Meta to the next level.”
Dana White has been credited with popularizing Donald Trump among younger male voters. He was a Trump ally and reportedly led Trump’s presidential campaign towards podcasts, including those of Joe Rogan and Theo Van.
These appearances made President Donald Trump win a sizable victory from this important voter demography. White also appeared in Trump’s first TikTok video.
Dana White is also a personal friend of Meta co-founder Mark Zuckerberg. They are interested in martial arts and have appeared together in photos.
All the big tech and Silicon Valley players began meeting President Donald Trump even before he was certified as President. They visited him in his Mar-a-Lago residence in Florida when he was President-elect. Many tech companies have contributed millions to Donald Trump’s inauguration as President on January 20, 2025.
Adding Dana White to the board of Meta could be an essential step for Meta’s future as he has experience and is an ally of President Donald Trump.
