To create the first container ship in history to run on clean ammonia, Yara Clean Ammonia, North Sea Container Line, and Yara International team together. The ship, Yara Eyde, will be the first to travel the sea route between Germany and Norway without emitting any emissions.

The International Maritime Organization estimates that over 3% of the world’s yearly emissions of greenhouse gases, including CO2, come from shipping.

“To succeed in decarbonizing shipping, low-emission technologies must be brought to commercial scale within the next decade. It is imperative that carriers are incentivized to choose low-carbon fuel,” says Magnus Krogh Ankarstrand, President of Yara Clean Ammonia.
