WWC News: Trinity Rodman returning to USWNT camp

Trinity Rodman is returning to training camp with the United States national team for the first time in nine months.

She is listed on the 26-player January camp roster announced by coach Emma Hayes on Thursday. The team will convene in Southern California for friendlies against Paraguay on Jan. 24 and Chile on Jan. 27.

Rodman’s time with the team was limited to just one match in 2025 due to her back and knee injuries, but she played a key role in the U.S. gold medal-winning effort in the Paris Olympics in 2024.

Hayes put together a young roster for the January camp, with four players to debut in their first senior-team call-ups: forwards Maddie Dahlien and Reilyn Turner and midfielders Riley Jackson and Sally Menti.

Despite being just 23, Rodman has the most caps (47) and goals (11) of anyone on the USWNT roster.

Except for Rodman, every woman on the roster is under contract to a National Women’s Soccer League team. Rodman’s contract wtih the Washington Spirit has expired, and a lucrative new deal between the two club and its star was blocked by league commissioner Jessica Berman because she said it went against “the spirit” of league rules.

The players’ association filed a grievance, which has yet to be settled.

This is the USWNT January camp roster by position, with each player’s club and caps/goals following in parentheses. No NJ/NY Gotham FC players — including longtime USWNT star Rose Lavelle — are available because of their commitment to the FIFA Women’s Champions Cup in England. Some potential USWNT players who are under contract to European teams are not on the U.S. roster. Lindsey Heaps and Naomi Girma are two prominent players playing overseas who aren’t on the roster.

Goalkeepers (3): Claudia Dickey (Seattle Reign FC; 6), Mandy McGlynn (Utah Royals; 4), Jordan Silkowitz (Bay FC; 0)
