Victoria Mboko breezed past fellow Canadian Bianca Andreescu 6-3, 6-3 in the first round of the Toray Pan Pacific Open on Tuesday in Tokyo.

The 19-year-old needed just 75 minutes to record the win, which was her first since she defeated Naomi Osaka in the final of the WTA 1000-level Montreal Open in August. She had lost in the first round in four tournaments since but never trailed in this match, landing nearly 70% of her first serves and winning 77% of those points.

In other action, Eva Lys of Germany defeated Great Britain’s Katie Boulter 6-2, 6-1. Sonobe Wakana of Japan topped Czech Nikola Bartunkova 6-4, 6-3 in a battle of teenaged wild cards. American Sofia Kenin ousted Moyuka Uchijima of Japan 6-1, 6-3.

Guangzhou Open

Qualifier Lulu Sun of New Zealand upset top seed Jessica Bouzas Maneiro of Spain 7-6 (3), 7-6 (2) to advance to the second round in Guangzhou, China.

Sun had eight aces and capitalized on nine double faults by the Spaniard, who also faced 15 break points.

Another qualifier, Tiantsoa Sarah Rakotomanga Rajaonah of France, also posted an upset in defeating No. 8 Polina Kudermetova of Russia 1-6, 6-1, 6-2.

No. 2 seed Ann Li of the United States and No. 6 seed Yulia Putintseva of Kazakhstan moved on, as did Camila Osorio of Colombia, Lucia Bronzetti of Italy, Ella Seidel of Germany, Anna Bondar of Hungary and American Katie Volynets.
