Seeded Russians Ekaterina Alexandrova (No. 2) and Anastasia Potapova (No. 5) cruised in straight sets on Wednesday at the Upper Austria Ladies Linz.

Alexandrova advanced with a 6-3, 6-0 win over German Jule Niemeier and Potapova defeated Italy’s Sara Errani 6-4, 6-3.

Eighth-seeded Petra Martic of Croatia lost in three sets to Czech Katerina Siniakova 4-6, 6-3, 7-5.

Other winners included Anastasia Pavlyuchenkova, Dayana Yastremska and Jodie Burrage.

Thailand Open

Third-seeded Xinyu Wang of China advanced in straight sets but fellow countrywoman and No. 5 Xiyu Wang lost 6-4, 3-6, 7-5 to Hungary’s Dalma Galfi.

Xiyu Wang won just 64.2 percent of her first serves vs. 77.6 percent for Galfi.

No. 7 seed and Kazakhstani Yulia Putintseva defeated Switzerland’s Viktorija Golubic 7-6 (0), 7-6 (1).

Diana Shnaider advanced when Spain’s Paula Badosa retired in the second set. Badosa led 4-3 in the second after dropping the first set.
