Russia’s Anna Blinkova recorded a 7-5, 6-4 win over top-seeded Marie Bouzkova of the Czech Republic in a second-round match Wednesday at the Hobart International in Australia.
Blinkova benefited from four aces and overcame six double faults to secure the victory in 1 hour, 41 minutes.
Fifth-seeded Anhelina Kalinina of Ukraine overcame a first-set scare to post a 4-6, 6-3, 6-3 win over Germany’s Tatjana Maria.
Also, eighth-seeded Yulia Putintseva of Kazakhstan breezed to a 6-2, 6-3 win over Spain’s Nuria Parrizas-Diaz.
