WTA News: Paula Badosa upends Daria Kasatkina at Stuttgart

Spain’s Paula Badosa upset No. 7 seed Daria Kasatkina of Russia 6-1, 6-1 in 70 minutes on Tuesday in the second round of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix on Monday in Stuttgart, Germany.

Badosa laced three aces while Kasatkina suffered three double faults at the WTA 500 clay-court tournament. Badosa advances to play countrywoman Cristina Bucsa in the quarterfinals.

Barbora Krejcikova of the Czech Republic and Jelena Ostapenko of Latvia were also straight-set winners, with Ostapenko taking down Brit Emma Raducanu 6-2, 6-1 in 58 minutes.

Tuesday’s other winners included Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia, Germany’s Tatjana Maria and Russian Anastasia Potapova. Haddad Maia defeated Italy’s Martina Trevisan, who retired in the second set at 1-1. Haddad Maia won the first set, 7-5.
