Top-seeded Iga Swiatek of Poland recovered from a slow start to record a 4-6, 6-1, 6-2 victory over Karolina Pliskova of the Czech Republic on Friday to advance to the semifinals of the Porsche Tennis Grand Prix in Stuttgart, Germany.

Pliskova won the first four games of the match in just 17 minutes before Swiatek started her comeback. She was unable to overcome the big first-set hole, but she dominated the final two sets and now stands two victories away from defending her Stuttgart championship.

Swiatek will face third-seeded Ons Jabeur of Tunisia in Saturday’s semifinals. Jabeur advanced thanks to a 6-3, 6-0 win over Beatriz Haddad Maia of Brazil.

Second-seeded Aryna Sabalenka of Belarus will meet Russian Anastasia Potapova in the other semifinal.

Sabalenka notched a 4-6, 6-4, 6-4 victory over Spain’s Paula Badosa, while Potapova upset fourth-seeded Frenchwoman Caroline Garcia 4-6, 6-3, 6-3.
