Brazil’s Beatriz Haddad Maia announced the end of her tennis season Monday due to health issues.

Haddad Maia, 29, is ranked No. 40 in the world and has four career WTA Tour singles titles.

“I’m ending my 2025 season a little earlier than planned so I can rest my body and mind for a longer period,” she wrote in an Instagram post. “Be sure that I will be back stronger and the best is yet to come.”

Haddad Maia had difficulty breathing and her hands were shaking during a match at last week’s Korea Open in Seoul, prompting medical personnel to check her blood pressure.

Haddad Maia peaked at No. 10 in the world rankings in June 2023.
