Today, Wednesday, November 4, the 49ers shut down their facility as Kendrick Brown tested positive for COVID-19, just one day before they play the Green Bay Packers. In a statement, they acknowledged that he had tested positive and said that they have entered the league’s “intensive protocol.”Source: ESPN
“The San Francisco 49ers were informed today that a player has tested positive for COVID-19 and the individual immediately went into self-quarantine,” the statement said. “Our organization has entered the NFL’s intensive protocol and we are working with the league on contact tracing to identify high risk individuals. All team functions will be conducted virtually today.”Source: ESPN
If the game goes on schedule, the 49ers will be short-handed. They would have to face the Packers without Bourne as well as Deebo Samuel who is suffering from a hamstring injury and receiver Richie James who has been limited in practice due to an ankle issue.
The Green Bay Packers also have had to withdraw a few players including AJ Dillon who tested positive for COVID-19 on Monday, November 2. Running back Jamaal Williams and linebacker Kamal Martin will also miss the game as they have been deemed as “high-risk close contacts” of Dillon.
