According to the U.S. Census Bureau, there were 75 million more people on the planet at the end of 2023 than there were at the start.
With the addition of 1.7 million people and a 0.53% increase in population, the United States saw its yearly pace of growth nearly double that of the rest of the world, to just under 1%.
The Census Bureau stated that by New Year’s Day, there would be more than 8 billion people on the planet, however, it is difficult to pinpoint exact dates and the threshold has probably already been crossed in recent months.
The United States’ growth rate for the last year was 0.53%, or almost half of the global average. The United States will have 335.8 million residents on New Year’s Day after adding 1.7 million new residents.
The Census Bureau reports:
In January 2024, the United States is expected to experience one birth every 9.0 seconds and one death every 9.5 seconds. Meanwhile, net international migration is expected to add one person to the U.S. population every 28.3 seconds. The combination of births, deaths and net international migration increases the U.S. population by one person every 24.2 seconds.
