Courtney Ogden scored eight of her 12 points and grabbed four of her seven rebounds in the fourth quarter to lead host Stanford to a 67-62 upset of No. 22 Washington Friday evening.
The Cardinal (10-2) outscored the Huskies 25-12 in the fourth quarter to erase a nine-point third-quarter deficit, starting the final frame with a 10-0 run to take a 52-50 lead. After Washington’s Elle Ladine hit a game-tying 3-pointer with 1:47 left, Stanford responded with a 6-2 run, icing the game with three free throws in the final seven seconds.
Lara Somfai tallied a game-high 14 points with six boards, Hailee Swain added 13 and Chloe Clardy notched 11 points for the Cardinal, who had 10 steals.
Salvia Sellers and Avery Howell led the Huskies (9-2) with 13 points apiece. Hannah Stines added 12 points and eight boards while Brynn McGaughy nearly had a double-double with 11 points and nine rebounds. Washington, which has lost two of its last three games since an 8-0 start, committed 16 turnovers, which were converted into 18 Stanford points.
No. 7 Maryland 98, Central Connecticut State 30
Yarden Garzon scored a season-high 25 points to lead the Terrapins to a rout of the Blue Devils on Friday afternoon in College Park, Md.
Oluchi Okananwa added 22 points, 10 rebounds and six assists for unbeaten Maryland (13-0), which held winless Central Connecticut State (0-11) to fewer than 10 points in each of the last three quarters. After building a 39-14 lead in the first quarter, Maryland outscored the Blue Devils 18-2 in the second, 20-9 in the third and 21-5 in the fourth to reach the 90-point mark for the fifth consecutive game.
Lucia Noin scored 12 points to lead the Blue Devils, who shot just 19% from the field (12 of 63) and committed 26 turnovers.
No. 12 Kentucky 96, Wright State 53
Clara Strack scored 26 points and blocked four shots as the Wildcats blasted the Raiders in Lexington, Ky.
Tonie Morgan and Kaelyn Carroll each put up 18 points for Kentucky (12-1), which earned its fifth win in a row. Asia Boone chipped in with 17 points. The Wildcats hit 15 of 39 3-point attempts (38.5%) while holding Wright State to 5-of-15 shooting (33.3%) from long range.
Abbie Riddle and Claire Henson scored 10 points apiece for the Raiders (5-9), and Henson grabbed eight rebounds. Wright State, which trailed 57-24 at halftime, shot just 33.3% from the floor.
