No. 17 Oregon State steadily built its lead while knocking off No. 20 Utah 58-44 on Friday night in the Pac-12 matchup at Salt Lake City.
Raegan Beers amassed 17 points and eight rebounds for the Beavers (19-3, 8-3 Pac-12), who remained in third place in the conference. They have won four straight games and seven of eight. Donovyn Hunter and Timea Gardiner added 10 points apiece.
Kennady McQueen scored 14 points and Alissa Pili was right behind with 12 for the Utes (17-7, 7-5), who shot only 28.1 percent from the field. Oregon State hit 41.1 percent from the floor and 41.2 percent (7 of 17) from 3-point range.
The Beavers led by one point after the first quarter and extended the gap to eight entering halftime. They were ahead by as many as 17 late in the third quarter before McQueen’s 3-pointer capped a 6-0 run that brought the Utes within 11 going into the fourth period. However, the hosts never got within single digits in the final quarter.
No. 4 Colorado 90, Oregon 57
The Buffaloes dominated the middle quarters and shot 52.2 percent from the floor while routing the Ducks in Boulder, Colo.
Maddie Nolan led five Colorado players in double figures with 19 points, including 14 in the second quarter, when the Buffaloes (20-3, 10-2 Pac-12) pulled away by outscoring the Ducks 27-15. They made the game a blowout with a 29-14 third quarter.
Quay Miller, Frida Formann and Aaronette Vonleh added 12 points apiece and Tameiya Sadler chipped in 11 for Colorado, which ran its winning streak to four games. Miller added 11 rebounds.
Grace VanSlooten had 16 points and seven rebounds for Oregon, which lost its sixth straight game. Ula Chamberlin scored 13 points, Phillipina Kyei supplied 11 points and eight boards, and Chance Gray netted 10 points.
No. 6 Stanford 63, Washington 59 (OT)
Cameron Brink scored seven of her game-high 22 points in overtime as the Cardinal escaped Seattle with a win over the Huskies.
Brink added nine rebounds, six blocks and four assists as Stanford (21-3, 10-2 Pac-12) won for the sixth time in seven games. Courtney Ogden added 11 points and Talana Lepolo 10 for the Cardinal, who shot 42.1 percent from the floor and 30.4 percent (7 of 23) from 3-point range.
Hannah Stines led Washington (13-9, 3-8) with 17 points, including a 3-pointer to start a 7-0 run that tied the game at 50-50 and forced overtime. Lauren Schwartz and Sayvia Sellers notched 11 points each for the Huskies, who have lost five of their past six games.
No. 9 UCLA 66, Arizona 58
The Bruins pulled away from a three-point game with a 7-0 run in the fourth quarter to defeat the Wildcats in Los Angeles.
Gabriela Jaquez and Kiki Rice did the heavy lifting for UCLA (18-4, 7-4 Pac-12). Jaquez, a sophomore, scored 21 points and added career highs of 15 rebounds and six assists. Rice notched 20 points on 9-of-12 shooting. The Bruins have alternated wins and losses since opening the season 14-0.
Esmery Martinez collected 15 points and eight rebounds for Arizona (12-11, 4-7). Kailyn Gilbert was right behind with 14 points, and Helena Pueyo added 10. The Wildcats shot just 33.3 percent from the floor and hit only 2 of 10 3-point attempts. The Bruins finished at 40.4 percent from the floor and 41.2 percent (7 of 17) from deep.
No. 10 Southern California 81, Arizona State 63
JuJu Watkins poured in 31 points, 25 in the second half, as the Trojans built an early lead and were barely challenged by the Sun Devils in Los Angeles.
USC (17-4, 7-4 Pac-12), which won its third straight game, scored the last five points of the first quarter to lead by 13. The margin reached 19 in the second quarter, and Arizona State (10-13, 2-9) only briefly cut the deficit to single digits early in the third quarter before the Trojans pulled away for good.
Rayah Marshall collected 13 points, 16 rebounds and three blocks for USC, and McKenzie Forbes added 18 points. The Trojans shot 45.6 percent from the floor. Jalyn Brown led the Sun Devils with 24 points, while Trayanna Crisp notched 17 points and Jaddan Simmons had 12.
