Jada Walker recorded 19 points and four steals to lead No. 10 Baylor to an 85-79 victory over No. 5 Texas in a Big 12 showdown on Saturday afternoon at Austin, Texas.

Dre’Una Edwards contributed 18 points, eight rebounds and six assists, and Sarah Andrews had 16 points for the visiting Bears (12-0, 1-0 Big 12). It marked the 14th consecutive time Baylor notched a road win at Texas.

Madison Booker had 25 points, eight assists and seven rebounds for the Longhorns (13-1, 0-1), who never led in the contest.

The game was the first for Texas since losing star point guard Rori Harmon to a season-ending ACL tear in her right knee. Harmon, the Big 12 Preseason Player of the Year, was injured during Wednesday’s practice.

Amina Muhammad had 17 points for the Longhorns, who were 4 of 16 from 3-point range. Baylor made 9 of 20.

No. 1 South Carolina 73, East Carolina 36,

Kamilla Cardoso posted a 12-point, 10-rebound double-double to pace a balanced attack as the No. 1 Gamecocks crushed the host Pirates in Greenville, N.C. MiLaysia Fulwiley added 12 points and nine rebounds and Ashlyn Watkins had 11 points in the Gamecocks’ final tune-up before opening Southeastern Conference play Thursday at Florida.

The Gamecocks (12-0), who shot 41 percent (25 of 61) from the field, led 14-8 after the first quarter but put together a 10-0 run in the second to take a 36-18 halftime lead.

East Carolina (7-4), which had a five-game winning streak snapped, was led by Amiya Joyner, who finished with 10 points and six rebounds. Danae McNeal, who came in averaging 19.5 points per game, was held to five points on 2-of-16 shooting as the Pirates shot just 19.4 percent (13 of 67) from the field.

No. 2 UCLA 71, No. 6 Southern Cal 64

Londynn Jones poured in 21 points and the host Bruins used balanced scoring to win a battle of unbeatens in the Pac-12 opener for both teams.

Lauren Betts had 15 points and eight rebounds, Kiki Rice added 12 points and Charisma Osborne provided 10 points for UCLA (12-0), which won despite 35.2 percent shooting from the floor. Jones made five of the team’s eight 3-point baskets.

Southern Cal (10-1) was within 63-61 before the Bruins scored the next five points.

JuJu Watkins scored 27 points to go with 11 rebounds and McKenzie Forbes had 23 points for the Trojans, who shot 33.3 percent from the floor.

UCLA led 38-37 at halftime after a high-scoring second quarter.

No. 4 Iowa 94, Minnesota 71

Caitlin Clark had 35 points and 10 assists while achieving another milestone and Hannah Stuelke added 19 points as the Hawkeyes defeated the Golden Gophers in Big Ten play at Iowa City, Iowa.

Clark became the Big Ten’s all-time career assists leader with 904, passing Ohio State’s Samantha Prahalis (901 from 2008-12) and also moved into fifth place on the NCAA Division I all-time scoring list with 3,149 career points. Kate Martin added 13 points for Iowa (13-1, 2-0 Big Ten), which won its 10th straight game.

Amaya Battle scored 16 points and Mara Braun added 15 for Minnesota (11-2, 1-1), which had an eight-game winning streak snapped.

No. 7 LSU 110, Jacksonville 68

Aneesah Morrow and Flau’jae Johnson had 20 points apiece to lead a big offensive night for the host Tigers in a game full of starts-and-stops as 64 fouls were called.

Angel Reese added 17 points, with 11 of those coming on free throws, Mikaylah Williams also had 17 points and Aalyah Del Rosario provided 14 points off the bench for LSU (13-1).

LSU was 40-for-52 on free throws. Jacksonville (4-9), which is winless in eight road games, was 22-for-32 at the foul line.

Edyn Battle’s 17 points and Asiana Britt’s 12 points led the Dolphins, who were charged with 28 turnovers. Jacksonville was called for 39 fouls.

The Tigers improved to 9-0 at home.

No. 8 Colorado 76, No. 12 Utah 65

Jaylyn Sherrod scored a career-high 34 points as the Buffaloes knocked off the Utes in a Pac-12 marquee clash at Boulder, Colo.

Sherrod made 13 of 23 shots and had a career-best six steals for Colorado (11-1, 1-0 Pac-12), which won its fifth straight game. Sara-Rose Smith matched her season high of 11 points and collected a career-best 12 rebounds for the Buffaloes.

Alissa Pili had 27 points, 10 rebounds and five assists for Utah (10-3, 0-1). She was the only player to score in double digits for the Utes, who lost for the second time in their past 10 games.

No. 11 Kansas State 66, Cincinnati 41

Gabby Gregory scored 17 points and Ayoka Lee became the second player in program history to reach 1,000 career rebounds as the Wildcats routed the host Bearcats in Big 12 play.

Lee collected eight rebounds to raise her total to 1,001, trailing only Kendra Wecker (1,087 from 2001-05) on the Kansas State ledger. Gregory made three 3-pointers for the Wildcats (13-1, 1-0 Big 12), who outscored Cincinnati 40-10 over the second and third quarters.

Jillian Hayes registered 14 points and nine rebounds for the Bearcats (8-4, 0-1), who had a six-game winning streak snapped. Cincinnati shot 11 of 55 (20 percent) from the field and 1 of 16 from 3-point range.

Michigan 69, No. 17 Ohio State 60

Laila Phelia scored 17 of her game-high 26 points in the second half as the Wolverines rallied in the fourth quarter to upset the Buckeyes in Ann Arbor, Mich.

Trailing 45-42 after three quarters in a tight matchup, the Wolverines (11-3, 2-0 Big Ten) took the lead for good at 53-51 on Jordan Hobbs’ tiebreaking jumper with 5:54 to play. Hobbs scored 11 points and grabbed six rebounds, while Lauren Hansen scored 15 of her 17 points in the second half.

For Ohio State (10-3, 1-1), Celeste Taylor scored a team-high 16 points, Taylor Thierry contributed 15 points and nine rebounds and Rikki Harris added 10 points.

No. 21 Creighton 67, St. John’s 56

Lauren Jensen scored 20 points and churned out six assists as the Bluejays picked up a home victory over the Red Storm in Omaha, Neb., for their third straight win overall. Kennedy Townsend added 14 points off the bench, making three 3-point baskets.

Creighton (10-2, 1-1 Big East) led 33-23 at halftime and continued to stretch the margin in the third quarter. Despite 19 points from Jillian Archer and 16 points from Unique Drake in the game, St. John’s (7-7, 1-1) couldn’t overcome 40.7 percent shooting that included 2-for-10 on 3-pointers.

No. 23 TCU 81, BYU 67

Sedona Prince’s 25 points and Madison Conner’s 21 points carried the host Horned Frogs (14-0) in their Big 12 Conference opener in Fort Worth, Texas.

TCU led 39-31 at halftime and built on that by cruising to a 20-point margin by the end of the third quarter. For the game, the Horned Frogs shot 50.8 percent from the field. Jaden Owens was 7-for-10 from the field for 15 points and supplied 10 assists, while Agnes Emma-Nnopu made four of her team’s eight 3-point baskets and finished with 14 points. TCU starters did all the team’s scoring.

BYU (10-4, 0-1) received 15 points from Kailey Woolston, 13 points from Amari Whiting and 10 points and 16 rebounds from Lauren Gustin.

No. 25 West Virginia 85, Kansas 60

Jordan Harrison scored a career-best 21 points to help the Mountaineers knock off the Jayhawks in the Big 12 contest at Lawrence, Kan.

JJ Quinerly tallied 13 points and Kyah Watson contributed 11 points and 11 rebounds for West Virginia (12-0, 1-0 Big 12). The Mountaineers were 9 of 18 from 3-point range and led by as many as 26 points.

Holly Kersgieter scored 19 points for Kansas (7-5, 0-1). Taiyanna Jackson had 13 points and 10 rebounds for the Jayhawks, who had a four-game winning streak halted.
