Taiyanna Jackson scored a career-high 27 points and added 19 rebounds as Kansas handed visiting No. 4 Baylor its first loss of the season, 87-66, on Wednesday night in Lawrence, Kan.
Jackson shot 9 of 12 from the floor and also added two assists, two steals and three blocks for the Jayhawks (8-7, 1-3 Big 12). Kansas got a boost from Smya Nichols, who scored 22 points, and Holly Kersgieter’s 19 points.
Darianna Littlepage-Buggs led Baylor (14-1, 3-1 Big 12) with 16 points and six rebounds.
The Bears couldn’t overcome their inability to hit 3-point shots at a high rate like they have for most of the season. Baylor shot a season-worst 20 percent from behind the arc, making just 5-of-25 shots from deep. Kansas outscored the Bears 56-32 in the paint and won the rebounding battle 48-31.
No. 3 Iowa 96, Purdue 71
Caitlin Clark notched her fourth triple-double of the season as the Hawkeyes beat the Boilermakers on the road in West Lafayette, Ind.
Clark collected 26 points on 18 shots, 10 rebounds and 10 assists in the victory for Iowa (16-1, 5-0 Big Ten). Kate Martin added 15 points for the Hawkeyes, Sydney Affolter scored 14, and Hannah Stuelke had 10 points and six rebounds.
Abbey Ellis powered Purdue (9-6, 2-2 Big Ten) with 15 points, six assists and five steals.
No. 10 Texas 72, TCU 60
Madison Booker scored 21 points to lead the Longhorns over the visiting Horned Frogs in their Big 12 matchup in Austin, Texas.
Booker also had seven rebounds, six assists and two steals for Texas (16-1, 3-1 Big 12). Amina Muhammad added 10 points and seven boards, while Taylor Jones chipped in 13 points and three blocks.
TCU (14-3, 1-3 Big 12) lost for the third straight game. The Horned Frogs were led by Aaliyah Roberson’s 15 points, six rebounds, three blocks and two steals.
Texas gained a big advantage at the free-throw line, making 24-of-32 attempts. TCU, meanwhile, shot just 7 of 8 from the charity stripe.
No. 12 Kansas State 74, Oklahoma 57
Ayoka Lee scored 19 points to help the Wildcats top the visiting Sooners in Manhattan, Kan.
Lee shot 8-of-12 from the floor and also tallied six rebounds and five blocks for Kansas State (16-1, 4-0 Big 12) in its 10th straight win. Serena Sundell added 16 points and seven assists for the Wildcats, while Gabby Gregory and Zyanna Walker each added 13 points.
Nevaeh Tot powered Oklahoma (9-6, 3-1 Big 12) with 13 points, eight rebounds and four assists.
No. 13 UConn 85, Providence 41
Ashlynn Shade notched 17 points and four steals as the host Huskies routed the Friars in Hartford, Conn.
Shade was one of five players to score in double figures for UConn (13-3, 5-0 Big East), which was playing in its first game without starting forward Aubrey Griffin, who has been ruled out for the rest of the season with an ACL tear. The Huskies also got 16 points from KK Arnold, 12 points from Aaliyah Edwards, 13 points and nine rebounds from Paige Bueckers, and 10 points and 13 assists from Nika Muhl.
Providence (8-9, 2-2 Big East) was paced by Brynn Farrell’s 12 points and six rebounds.
No. 14 Indiana 75, Penn State 67
Mackenzie Holmes had 21 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Hoosiers over the visiting Nittany Lions.
Holmes shot 10-of-16 from the floor and also had three blocks for Indiana (14-1, 5-0 Big Ten) in its 13th straight win. Sydney Parrish added 20 points for Indiana, Chloe Moore-McNeil chipped in 16 and Sara Scalia scored 11.
Penn State (10-5, 1-3 Big Ten) was powered by Leilani Kapinus, who had 15 points, six rebounds and three steals.
No. 22 Creighton 89, Butler 53
Emma Ronsiek had 25 points and six rebounds to help the Bluejays beat the visiting Bulldogs in Omaha, Neb.
Lauren Jensen added 14 points and five assists for Creighton (12-3, 3-2 Big East) while Mallory Brake chipped in 12 points and six rebounds. Rachel Kent led Butler with 10 points.
The Bluejays led by 12 points at halftime, then really pulled away in the third frame by outscoring the Bulldogs 29-11. Creighton shot 12-of-23 from 3-point range, a 52.2 percent clip. The Bluejays also racked up 21 assists and outscored Butler 42-22 in the paint.
Iowa State 74, No. 24 West Virginia 64
Audi Crooks had 22 points and 11 rebounds to lead the Cyclones to an upset win over the visiting Mountaineers in Ames, Iowa.
Iowa State (11-4, 4-0 Big 12) also got 13 points and seven rebounds from Emily Ryan, and 12 points, eight rebounds and eight assists from Addy Brown.
It was the second straight loss for West Virginia (13-2, 2-2 Big 12), which was led by 17 points, seven assists and five steals from Jordan Harrison.
No. 25 UNLV 91, San Jose State 55
Desi Rae Young scored 24 points to help the Rebels beat the visiting Spartans in a Mountain West Conference matchup in Las Vegas.
Young shot 11-of-13 from the floor and also had six rebounds, four assists and four steals for UNLV (13-1, 3-0 MWC) in its fourth straight win. Kiara Jackson added 14 points for the Rebels, Alyssa Brown grabbed 14 rebounds, and Nneka Obiazor had 11 points and eight boards off the bench.
Jyah LoVett led San Jose State (6-9, 1-2) with 26 points. Amhyia Moreland chipped in 10 points.
San Jose State scored the first basket of the game but never led again. UNLV scored the next nine points and finished the first quarter ahead 32-8. The Rebels won the rebounding battle 42-19, outscored the Spartans 23-2 in the fast break, and scored 44 points in the paint to San Jose State’s 24.
