Freshman guard JuJu Watkins set a Southern California single-game record with 51 points as the 15th-ranked Trojans earned a 67-58 road win over fourth-ranked Stanford on Friday.
Watkins’ point total was the highest in Division I women’s basketball this season and the most by a freshman since Elena Delle Donne scored 54 in a game for Delaware in 2010.
The former USC record of 50 was set by Cherie Nelson in 1989.
Watkins shot 14 of 26 from the floor, 6 of 11 from 3-point range and 17 of 19 at the foul line. She added team-high totals of 11 rebounds and four steals.
McKenzie Forbes put up 12 points for USC (15-4, 5-4 Pac-12), which had lost three of its previous four games.
Cameron Brink produced 19 points, 15 rebounds and eight blocks for Stanford (19-3, 8-2), which had a four-game winning streak end. Kiki Iriafen had 16 points and nine rebounds, and Hannah Jump scored 10 points.
No. 6 Colorado 63, Washington State 57
Frida Formann scored 27 points and Aaronette Vohleh added 20 as the Buffaloes downed the Cougars in Pullman, Wash.
Quay Miller pulled down 15 boards to help Colorado (18-3, 8-2 Pac-12) wind up with a 50-38 rebounding advantage.
Tara Wallack posted 19 points while Astera Tuhina and Eleonora Villa had 15 apiece for Washington State (15-7, 4-5). The Cougars hit just 4 of 15 3-point attempts (26.7 percent) while falling for the second time in three games.
No. 7 UCLA 78, Cal 58
Charisma Osborne’s season-best 32 points propelled the Bruins to a win over the Golden Bears in Berkeley, Calif.
Osborne hit 14 of 20 shots from the floor and added a team-high four assists. Londynn Jones scored 18 points and Angela Dugalic had 12 for UCLA (17-3, 6-3), which has alternated wins and losses for seven games.
Ugonne Onyiah amassed 21 points and six rebounds as Cal (13-9, 3-7) lost for the sixth time in seven games. Ioanna Krimili scored 15 points and Marta Suarez finished with 14.
No. 20 Utah 83, Washington 65
A 31-point performance from Alissa Pili sparked the Utes to a victory over the Huskies in Seattle.
Utah (16-6, 6-4 Pac-12) also got 19 points from Jenna Jackson and 10 from Matyson Wilke en route to its fifth win in six games.
Hannah Stines logged 24 points for Washington (13-7, 3-6), which lost for the third time in four games. Lauren Schwartz and Sayvia Sellers each notched 15 points.
No. 25 Princeton 79, Yale 59
Kaitlyn Chen put up 27 points on 12-for-20 shooting to power the Tigers past the visiting Bulldogs.
Chen added five assists and four rebounds as Princeton (16-3, 6-0 Ivy League) won its 11th straight game. The Tigers, who outrebounded Yale 44-21, haven’t lost since Dec. 3.
The Tigers led by just five at halftime before outscoring the Bulldogs 29-16 in the third quarter.
Kiley Capstraw scored a team-high 16 points for Yale (4-15, 1-5). Nyla McGill had 13 points and Brenna McDonald and Jenna Clark scored 11 apiece.
